Sneak Peak! 2003 4Runner Photos!

In recent days, more information about the redesigned 2003 Toyota 4Runner has emerged, including some breathtaking photos.

According to the rumor mill, various insider sources, and internal Toyota documents, the forthcoming 4Runner should prove to be quite a radical change for the mid-sized brother to the Tacoma. The biggest of these changes is the addition of a 4.7L V8 engine as an option. This, along with a new suspension system featuring X-REAS Sport Enhancement Suspension, Downhill/Hill-Start Assist Control, and a Torsen Center Differential should make the new 4Runner a champ off the pavement as well as on your morning commute. Not looking for the power or gas-guzzling tendencies of the V8? Toyota will also be offering a brand new 4.0L V6 as an alternative powerplant.

Details are sketchy at best with regards to pricing on the new models, but a $40,000 + price tag for a loaded model is a good bet. V8-equipped models will be arriving at your local dealership on October 15th while V6 models aren't expected until January 2003. Look for more details on the 2003 4Runner in the weeks ahead.

2003 Tacoma Lineup: No Major Changes, S-Runner Still Alive

Toyota today announced pricing and changes to the 2003 model year Tacoma truck lineup. Here's the info from Toyota's website:

The rugged Tacoma compact pickup is upgraded for 2003 with standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) on all models. Additionally, child restraint system (CRS) lower anchors have been added to the front passenger seat on Regular- and Xtracab models, and to the rear outboard seats on Double Cab models.

Tacoma 4x2 MSRPs range from $12,100 for the Regular Cab four-cylinder with a five-speed manual transmission to $15,460 for the Xtracab four-cylinder with a four-speed electronically controlled transmission. MSRP for the performance-focused S-Runner Xtracab V6 is $19,020. The MSRP for the popular PreRunner ranges from $14,015 for the Regular Cab four-cylinder automatic to $19,170 for the Double Cab V6 automatic. On average, 2003 Tacoma 4x2 prices increase only $94, or 0.6 percent.

Tacoma 4x4 MSRPs range from $16,510 for the Regular Cab four-cylinder five-speed manual to $22,320 for the Double Cab V6 automatic. On average, 2003 Tacoma 4x4 prices increase $200, or 1.0 percent. Total Tacoma prices (4x2 and 4x4 combined) increase $139, or 0.8 percent.

So, indeed the S-Runner still has some life left in it, despite rumors that were circulating otherwise. Posted by Webmaster on September 2, 2002 11:23 PM | Comments (70)
