What's Next for Toyota's Truck Lineup?

Toyota's truck lineup is rapidly changing. In the past 2 years, there have been 2 brand new sport utility models. So what's the future of the Tacoma? The Tundra?

The RAV4: Since the entry-level SUV was redesigned last fall, there are no known makeover plans at the moment. In fact, sources speculate that no major changes are expected in the next several years.

The Highlander, which went on sale this year, is the first iteration of Toyota's new global mid-sized platform. No major changes are planned for this SUV in the near future either.

It looks like the 4Runner will receive a redesign in the near future as well. It is rumored that Toyota will strive to keep the 4Runner targeted towards the truck crowd to avoid hurting sales of it's new Highlander. You can expect to see the new 4Runner in either the 2002 or 2003 model year.

Since the Sequoia debuted in the 2000 model year, our sources indicate that no major revisions are planned for Toyota's monster 'ute.

With the arrival of the new 2000 Sequoia SUV, it appears as though Toyota is phasing-out the Land Cruiser. It is, however, expected to stay in the lineup through the 2005 model year.

If our sources are correct, the beloved Tacoma is slated for a redesign for the 2004 model year. One of the biggest improvements for the new model is a larger powerplant. It is expected that the current 3.4 liter V6 will be replaced with a 3.7 liter version. Other details are not currently available about the new Tacos.

It is also rumored that a larger-than-Tundra truck is in development. It would be marketed as a tough, commercial truck to rival Ford's F-250. Whispers of a 2005 release have been heard.

Welcome to CustomTacos.com!

After two years in planning and more than four months in the construction process, CustomTacos.com is finally a reality. So now that you're here, what does CustomTacos have to offer you?

The mission of CustomTacos is to provide a place for Toyota Tacoma enthusiasts to gather and exchange information. This comes in many forms such as technical knowledge, photos and multimedia, stories, and much more.

We've got everything from the latest news in the Toyota truck arena to technical articles explaining how to perform modifications to your truck to an extensive discussion forum to converse with other Tacoma owners. If it pertains to Tacoma trucks, it's all here at CustomTacos.com The site is not geared exclusively for ground-pounding minitruckers. Rather, our goal is to make the site beneficial for sky-high 4x4 enthusiasts, too.

What WON'T you find on this website? Annoying pop-up ads. These only keep you from easily accessing valuable content. Also, you won't find in-depth discussions about Chevy, Ford, Nissan or other trucks. Sure, those enthusiasts are welcome to visit CustomTacos.com, but they won't find it nearly as useful as you do.

What's to do at CustomTacos.com?

First things first: Jump over to the discussion forum and register a user name. This place is about to become your best friend when it comes to technical help (or if you're lonely on a Saturday night with nowhere to cruise).

Secondly, if you're in a club that has a website, head over to our links directory and submit your club or business. Our extensive database is already populated with more than 75 links to aftermarket parts vendors, truck publications, and other club websites.

The CustomTacos staff attends events around the country frequently. You'll find digital photographs from those events in the event coverage section. Additionally, the events calendar contains an extensive listing of future shows and events where you can find (and post) events happening in YOUR neck of the woods.
