TRD Sets Tentative Release Date for 4.0L Supercharger

After many months of research and development, TRD USA announced today that they will, indeed, mass produce a supercharger for the popular 4.0L V6 engine.
This announcement comes on the heels of a prototype model that was unveiled at SEMA this year in a yellow X-Runner. Sources close to the project expect the new product will be available by "Q3 2006".
This should make many 4Runner, Tacoma, and new FJ Cruiser owners excited as the supercharger should work in all of the aforementioned applications. There has been no word yet on what price point it will debut as, but sources expect it to be in the $2500-$3000 range.
Our undercover sources inside TRD report that the testing is going "amazingly well" and that the numbers so far "look incredible". No official numbers have been released by Toyota or TRD, but the 240hp engine is expected to put out somewhere around 305hp when fed between 12 and 13 psi.
Our source also took a photo with his camera phone from inside the Tustin, CA TRD search labs. The photo is quite blurry (damn camera phones!), but it appears as though the test mule is a speedway blue X-Runner. Here's the photo:

another thing...the yellow XR at sema had a centrifical SC with a front mount while this camera phone pic is a roots-type blower which is totally different design and operation. so a "protoype unit unveiled at sema" is false. these are 2 different units

I like the idea, and will get one when they come out, I think that it is a good thing that trd is realizing that they need more for the 4.0 I am loving mine.
