Default What tires to go with on stock 15x6 steel rims?

I am looking for new tires on my wife's 2001 Tacoma base model with the 15x6 steel rims. I would ideally like to go bigger than the stock 205/75 but I don't want it to effect the speedo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you go bigger than stock u will affect the speedo...the larger the faster you will be rolling.

You could go with something like 235-65 which gives you the same sidewall height and pretty much the same overall diameter (0.1" smaller) on a wider tire... The site referenced in that post lets you put in whatever tire size you want and tells you how it affects the speedo.

Now... do they make such a tire? I dunno. I think that also might be the max width for a 6" wide rim. I'm not a tire guy though, so I don't really know the answer to that question.

yeah they do make a 235/65/15. that is a common tire size for cars like grand ams and such. and you can put it on a 6 inch rim they will just pooch out a bit, like 2 mm or something like that, it would look good though.

235-65's are your best bet..

I always use this tire calculator
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

When I went from the stock steelies to the 16" hyundai sante fe wheels, I use this calculator.. 225-60-16's and they look nice..

speedometer is hardly off at all..
they dont stick out either.. I did wheels and tires for less than 400 bucks..

(LEFT SIDE) 16x6.5 Hyundai Sante Fe wheels w/225-60-16 goodyear rs-a tires

(RIGHT SIDE) stock steel wheels w/205-75-15 tires

I recommend a 225/70/15 size.
