Default Whats the difference between a coil over lift and a spacer lift kit?

I am going to get a 4 door toyota tacoma 4x4 trd and i was just wondering what the difference is between the coil over lift kit that companies like fabtech offer and the spacer lift kit that companies like revtek offer. I hear alot of people say that the fabtech sucks and that the revtek is better because the cv joint boots wont leak the grease.

Ok, coilovers are brand new coils spings. A spacer lift uses the stock coils by preloading the the springs with usually a polyurethane spacer. You put the spacer on top of the coil. You can go up to 3" on a spacer. Coil overs give a great ride, while spacers stiffen the ride a little. A lot of people like having a stiffer ride...its just ur preference.

A lot of people have the Revtech spacers and like them. Plus, spacers are A LOT more cheaper than coilovers. If u have the money and are looking for comfort...go with coil overs. If u are looking for a cheaper way, go with spacers. Spacers can eventually cause the springs to sag, but this is if u do a lot of hardcore offroading with them.

Like matts02taco said the spacers and diff drop are only gonna cost your about $150 at the most and the Fabtech cost a grand. If you are going to spend that kind of money get some Hoes, Kings or SAWs. I have the Toytecs also and I don't think it rides bad and I saved $850.

also depends on what you like to do with your truck... i had a coil spacer lift and it was great onroad and slow offroading... threw on the donahoes with deavers and it handles so well hitting whoops and ditches...

"or you can do both! "

I bought some DR coilovers that have 2.5" lift...then If I add 2.5 poly spacer that would give me 5" front lift...? Is that right?....hmm
