Default JL Audio VR525-CSi 5-1/4\" Component System

Anyone know if thses are worth a damn?

Product Description:

"...natural spectral balance and breathtakingly realistic sound quality." were the words chosen by Car Stereo Review to describe our affordable 5.25-inch 2-way component system. (They also said it was better sounding than a well-known $2000 system.)

The VR component tweeter is a masterpiece of miniaturization and precision German manufacture. The tiny 3/4-inch (19mm) silk dome is feruid cooled and housed in a super-compact housing featuring JL AUDIO's exclusive RSR mounting system. A neodymium magnet system allows for a small footprint and maximum installation flexibility of this tiny, but powerful little tweeter.

Premium mylar capacitors are employed to filter the tweeter for uncompromising high-frequency smoothness. The system-specific network is housed in a compact, outboard case and features adjustable tweeter output level and solid-state tweeter protection circuitry.

The woofer element employs a mineral-filled, injection-molded polypropylene cone body with a butyl rubber surround and is designed for smooth, unassisted upper-frequency rolloff that blends seamlessly with the tweeter's output.

Use with outboard amplification for best results.

Can't say that I have. I've isntalled and heard the XR's in my girls Jeep. They sound good. You plan on using the VR's powered by your head unit or amp? If you want those VR's to really push.. get an external amp.

any word on how those sound? went to a stereo shop today and talked to the guy that worked there. I was planning on getting like the boston pro50's but the guy told me it wasnt worth the money unless i was gonna go for competition. Told em that i wasnt and he recommended some jl xr525-cxi. is there a difference from the xr525-csi and the xr525-csi? seen em both on ebay but i dont know what tha difference is. But let me know how they sound. they running on ebay for about 200 bucks.

I have to say they put out some good sound for a little 5.25". The dome tweets have nice crisp highs. The tweets are made of silk.
What ever you get, make sure you run them off of an amp. They will sound a lot nicer than if just ran off the deck.
