Default Comparison of TBS\'s (Specific question)

Okie, before we get to the question at hand: I did search, and there's nothing along these lines, so bear with me here.

I see a lot of different types of TBS's, and the difference seems to be the TYPE of grooves.

Here's the three in question:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

now, I know pimpintacoma is a member here, and I'd be happy to support him by buying his spacer, but I'm looking for a comparison of why each has it's setup of grooves, and which is better.

Yes, I know the last one is for the 2.4/2.7, but I couldn't find one for the 3.4L, so lets go based on type of threads, not that actual TBS.

bro if I was you, I would ask to see dyno charts of these things actually making power...before and after scenarios...i have yet so see any substantiated horsepower and torque results, proven by a dyno, when adding one of these things. i'm NOT saying they add power or don't, but i AM saying that this is a highly debated subject, and for good reason. my 2 cents. K&N claims a ton of HP and torque gains, but gadget cleared that right up whith a dynoed LOSS. anywho...good luck with your mods

I agree about seeing dyno results -- that'd be great. However, you are misinterpreting the dyno that gadget had with the K&N. Yes, he experienced a loss of HP with the K&N and a S/C. However, the loss of power is not important, it's the cause that is of issue. The K&N is intented to *increase* air intake capacity. The problem with a lower HP output is because gadgets truck was running too lean. This means that the K&N did its job *so well* that the stock fuel system was unable to provide enough fuel for the air consumed. The URD kit addresses this very issue. With the URD kit, the K&N should produce more HP than the stock airbox.

im fairly anti K&N b/c of the crap ive heard with lack of filtration and MAF's getting smoked....but if i wish someone with the URD kit would do a before and after dyno with the k&n just to clear it up once and for all....if the thing actually does do it's job, then people ought to know about it....SOMEONE DYNO THAT MOTHERFATHER..there's gotta be someone on this site willing to donate a little dyno time!

Ok, after reading all the posts and doing some research I said what the heck.. I purchased and installed a AirAid TBS. My first drive I could tell a "slight" difference. It wasnt the "OH WOW" I was looking for but there was a difference. While I was there I cleaned out the throttle body/intake and bored a large hole in the front of my intake box. I didnt do the deck plate mod cause riding as high as Iam if I suck water into the intake I should have been in Lake Erie to begin with. Ha.. Wasnt a waste of 80 bucks for the TBS in my opinion......

my question is, how do you know it wasn't the cleaned throttle body and the hole in your intake that provided the gains? i can go put my elbow back in and tell a noticable difference in the way my truck runs (stronger) when it is not there. i also recently cleaned out the throttle body with some BG cleaner, and guess what? the gas mileage went up slightly and the idle returned to right off the showroom performance! (the distgusting black stuff that came out was something to see....NOTE: when cleaning out TB, put a rag under the TB to catch the crud that will come out as opposed to letting drip onto the sensors ) i'd still like to see someone just put a TBS on their truck and dyno it....no injectors, no intake mods, no blowers, no twin turbos, no snake oil....just the TBS. lets see that dyno, then we'll do a $/HP comparison to see if it was worth it. remember, i'm not saying its not worth it, im just saying i want some numbers.
