how much power??

hey I got a question I have a 1995 tacoma and a friend of mine just went and got a 96 tacoma both are 2wd single cabs and both have a 2.4L just mine is a 5 speed and his an an auto. now he was asking me about how much horse power would he have and i have no clue as i am just starting to learn these trucks in engine ways!!! but he was currious and now i am too if he added a K&N air intake system, full length header and did away with the cat and put a nice exhaust on it how many horses would he be pushing rough estimate i told him around 170 but i have no clue if im right cause i know a 142 is the stock on those and i figured it may go up 30hp with all the addons. and what would I have to do to get my 2.4L around 200hp natural aspirated so i can stay ahead of him :-) also what would be the best 5 add ons for under a $1000???

170 is a long shot from stock 142
getting 200 HP N/A is going to be real hard, I dunno if it is even possible with any type of boost

Here are my dyno results for my 96. I have an auto as well, and the only mod is a K&N intake. Good luck getting 200 hp.

Does anyone know where I can find some dyno numbers for a Turbo'ed Tacoma 4 cyl? I am debating on if should even bother trying to build this motor up. It doesn’t sound like it has much HP potential. I could be wrong.

it has lots of potential, just needs to be released, if you wanna get some power out of these motors, turbo is definately the way to go, though you can get them runnin pretty damn well n/a

You read my mind!! I just received an email from EL Prototypes. They said there kit got 202hp at the wheels on the 2.4L. They said that they haven't tested the 2.7L but should be better. I would be happy with 200hp to the rear wheels. That leaves only the suspension to worry about. I want to make it a jumper for the desert. Thats why I want the extra ponys and a sick ass suspension.
