Default Questions on VSV delete

With the lines that are left when removing the VSV canister, can you connect them together with a rubber tube? I have heard some people say to just put a breather on them but I would rather not. There are 2 metal lines sticking up that are open ended.

Thanks

I've never been clear on what might happen if you simply connect the orphaned EVAP canister lines together.

I connected em together...we'll see what happens. I am assuming they are just vents for evaporated gasoline from the gas tank to make it to the charcoal canister, which then gets circulated to the intake when the VSV opens. If I connect them together then I am assuming it will not vent?

I should refer to it properly as the "charcoal canister"
