Default Transmission Drain Plug

Hey folks, so I was under my truck yesterday and I noticed a ring of oil around the transmission drain plug. I go to tighten it and it just keeps turning. I'm thinking it's the gasket but I may be wrong. I don't know how this happened because my truck only has 30 K on it and I never took it to a mechanic. I'm just trying to get a couple opinions on this matter so I can see if I can fix it. Anything helps, thanks and Merry Christmas!

um, these are not servicable ("fill for life")

bolt may be stripped if it just keeps turning

Tighten it enough and eventually it will fall out in your hand (followed quickly by all of your oil. lol).
Sounds stripped to me. You can pick up a somewhat universal "expanda-plug" at most parts stores. Insert plug, tighten bolt head with wrench, and the rubber sleeve expands to tightly fill the hole. Still will work as normal when you change fluid.
If it is indeed stripped to the point that you keep turning it and it will not tighten at all, I see this as your only option considering the size of the plug.

Should be covered under the factory 5 year 60k mile powertrain warranty. Don't touch it...Bring it to the dealer and make them fix it.

I guess if you can prove that you (or anyone else) has ever touched the drain plug since it was new. Otherwise I'd be willing to bet they would chalk it up to "someone elses fault" and problem.
It's worth a shot. Their are a few good dealers out there.

"fill for life" should never have been 'touched'

find a good service writer, and good luck
