Default Flywheel advice for a 3RZ 4Runner

Hey guys, I bought a 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD manual wreck to convert my supercharged 1999 4Runner 2WD into a 4x4/manual. I've already got the ECU, bell housing for R series, etc....

I'm looking for a flywheel before I can start my project. LC engineerings selection is showing a 12 pound and a 35 pound flywheel. I've read that stock is about 24ish pounds.

How badly will I kill my torque with a 12 lb flywheel? Should I just go stock? I'm regeared to 4.56 from 3.91 and on 33" mud terrains. Current performance upgrades for the motor are TRD supercharger (still running 4PSI) K&N intake, LCE header, 2.5" cat, 2.5" pipe (considering 2.25" pipe if it will improve performance)

Thanks guys, I know this isn't much of a 4x4 forum, but you guys know a lot about 3RZ performance. My powerband is boring and slow (no help with the stupid automatic), and doesn't have any decent pickup until about 4k RPM.

Here's a gauge vid of WOT. I made it when I installed the supercharger so my apologies that the camera shys away from the gauge cluster a lot.

Thanks guys

More boost, extra fuel... stock flywheel since you've got big meats on it.... then meth injection and 2.5" exhaust...

Cool. Definitely doing meth injection after the conversion.

Stock flywheel will save me a lot of $$$, thanks.

Yep, good advice, stay stock or go heavy, you dont want a light flywheel for offroading, lightened flywheels are for street trucks where you want faster revs, heavy is better for low end torque and gives a bit more inertia to avoid stalling....

Yea my fidenza on my 4x4 3rz w3.58 gears and 30s. Anything off road meant 4 low. It would bog on steep climbs under 10-15 mph. But never failed me in low range.

Never regretted my decision.
