Default What Happend to The URD 3.4 Rotrex kit?

I recenty called URD about there O2 sim (didnt want to replace my rear cat and throwing codes) and talked with Gadget shortly about that 3.4 Rotrex kit they had been working on. He told me that it was still on the books but not a top priorty. I understand that the have to run a business and produce what gives them the greatest return in their investment but I believe it will be worth it in the end to wait instead of settling on the TRD kit. Besides I am only on 140K so really I am only half way done!

Please oh Please let it be an intercooled kit with say approx 300ish rwhp!

Anyone heard anything else?

What you heard is all I've heard. I don't think it'll happen. There isn't enough interest since it's an old motor. Save up for a new truck with the 1GR.

The 5vz has a very wide range of usage from 1995-2004, if we all can commit to maybe a deposit, and a petition something will happen. Granted this only the cure-all solution, to seperate the lookie-loos and the very serious people who want it. Than they will get it.

Oh and another plan of action is, if someone is in maryland, to be the prototype truck, i'm unsure if various prototypes will be needed such as, non egr/egr, 5speed/auto, Traditional Cable/Throttle By Wire, stuff like that.

Afterall they produced a 1gr supercharger, with a little more time to figure out how to mount the blower and make something to graft an intake manifold things should be gravy. Who's going to turn down the 5vz, it's more durable than a 1gr, afterall! = ) I'm sure if it had vvti, we can leave that 1gr in the dust. Respect your forefathers! =P

I'm with Tred on this one.

As a side note: I've never used any of the URD products, and I'm sure they're top-notch, but their prices scare me away. I can't imagine how much this kit would cost though.

not that i need it, but id like to see what that kit could do on a 5vz. i have many URD parts on my S and the prices are pretty good compared to every one else that sells taco parts.
i havent heard much about the kit though(but there was a picture of the setup on their 4Runner i think)

Yea i definitely can understand the desire for the newer truck but having a paid off 4runner has its benefits, more freedom for mods and freed up funds(Plus my 4runner has become my baby). The fact that Gadgets sig says 422whp is enough to get any mans blood pressure up.

Like I said before I can understand that a business needs to do whats best in their interest but I just want to be selfish. I feel like if URD had a kit for the 3.4 they might see more business then expected possibly even from those that have already purchased their fuel kits. I live in virginia beach and could possibly use my vehicle for a prototype after this fall especially if it put down numbers previously discussed (headers, catback, intake, fuel mods, water/meth inject, etc) could really make for an awesome rotrex kit! I really think that 350ish isn't out of the question but I am not 5vz toyota master many others have better opinions than mine

I am looking to the VB shim mod this next weekend any advice?
