Default Re: Paradise Racing Turbo Kit

I came from the miata world. My miata had $5300 turbo kit from www.flyingmiata.com which included full standalone ecu by Hydra, injectors, manifold, intercooler, etc.

A lesson I learned is that if your going to do it, DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

I had a jackson racing supercharger before the turbo kit and sold the supercharger. If I did it right the first time, I wouldn't have wasted money on the supercharger.

The supercharger basically gave you band aids to hook up to your stock ecu. Pretty neat idea but if I had to do it again, i'll go with some type of standalone instead of some band aids.

This is what I think a great turbo kit set up would be:

1. Turbo (something with fast spooling cuz are rpm is low) Ball Bearing? Water and oil cool?

2. Engine management: Probably apr x-1 if they work out a feature for boost.

3. Bigger injectors that will plug right up if possible, no harness.

4. Walbro 255lph fuel pump or 190 HIGH Flow pump.

5.Intercooler is a MUST! (you can subract $ for those who don't want it)

6. Boost controller (if x-1 can't control it)

7. Blow off valve

8. Wastegate? if external.

9. Pipings for intercooler. (on my flying miata they gave me silicone hoses. A new thing? But some prefer the metal pipings)

10. Downpipe

11. Manifold

12. Stainless steel oil and water lines.

13. Air Filter

That's what I can think of right now...

All that was regarding a good turbo kit set up.

You don't know about miatas? Handle's like a go cart! Eat up corvettes in the corners.

They might be girly cars but they are a beast and are scca champs!

Some even put LS1 engine in them.

Like I said what's the straight line performance. If I say is it fast you'll say yeah it corners like a go cart. With the turbo or sc was it straight line fast. Or was is still a slug straight line. I saw a mini coop that had about 8k in motor mods and it was a 14sec car. Faster yes but still slow in straight line wise. Could it kill me in the corner yeah but not on the straights that's for certain.

i think your missing a punctuation in your first post i quoted. looks like your missing a comma after was, kind confusing to some i guess.

Ok maybe some understood. What I was asking is. With all of your modifications, was you car at least fast when it comes to straight line performance? I am not asking if it cornered well or if the brakes were great. If you were to line up against let's say, a mustang, would you be faster in the quarter or standing mile over such a car?

Yes that miata is pretty fast in a straight line. All the 4 bangers I raced I ate them up even s2k. I raced my lil bro s2k and still won. They get suprised at this lil girly car.

If you know miatas, a good one come with torsen lsd in the rear (what I had), miata motors were built to handle boost but factory didn't supply them so that is why flyingmiata came out with a turbo kit.

People on the miata forum boost 15lbs on that stock motor and it can handle it.

Balboa???

Please keep in mind that the more people that commit to this, group buy style and puts a deposits on it, the cheaper it will be.

1. Do you guys have a prefference. Intercooled or not???

2. Do you guys want a turn key fuel solution? (piggy back, injectors and pump)

If not, whats your prefference?

3. Would you be interested in just the boost part of the kit minus fuel mods???

4. What kind of power numbers do you want to see???

5. Did I forget something you guys might be interested in???

Let me know your opinions???

Luis
1. Do you guys have a prefference. Intercooled or not???
yes the intercooler is must
2. Do you guys want a turn key fuel solution? (piggy back, injectors and pump)
yes but i would rather have a haltech standalone setup as a piggy back over an x1 just cause my local guys deal in haltech
If not, whats your prefference?

3. Would you be interested in just the boost part of the kit minus fuel mods???
diffrent turbo options for diffrent uses
4. What kind of power numbers do you want to see???
400whp would be nice
5. Did I forget something you guys might be interested in???
would it be a single or a twin kit and could it be made so that you could still use the urd comption y pipe and 3" exhaust
