Default Can I put a switch between my Amp and Receiver?

I've got a Kicker ZR240 bridged to two Kicker Comp 10's in my Ext Cab Taco. The amp puts out major interference when I'm listening to AM radio (effects the actual reception; I don't hear any of this when listening to FM or CDs). I don't have any desire to have my subs kicking when I'm listening to talk radio/news. Can I put a simple switch on the amp remote wire that goes from my reciever to the amp? If so what type of switch? Thanks for any help

Yes you can. Any switch that can handle 12v will work.

Yea any switch, but make sure it can handle the certain amount of amps that your amplifier pulls. Say if your fuse on the amp is about 30 amps, make sure you get a switch to handle that, otherwise it'll burn out too quick if it's lower than what's rated.

The remote wire doesn't have a lot of current moving through it though so you really don't have to worry about amperage. So pretty much any switch under the sun will work.

Thanks for the input. I figured I could mount a switch just was not sure what type of signal the amp remote wire sent. I'm prob going to mount the switch on the plastic surround that encases the shifter boots. I'll post a pic once I get it done if it looks good.
