Default '05+ 17inch wheel/tire question

I currently have the bilstein 5100s all around and cranked up to 2.5 ion the front, but iam gonna be getting a set of coilovers soon. I wanna keep me stock 17 inch sport wheels. I will have the coils at about 3 inches of lift. I wanna know whatr size tire fits nicely in the and still allows the suspension to fully flex...285/70/17? 275/70/17? ive searched the other threads, but they all seem to be for the 16inch wheels. thanks!

i'm having the same problem as you are i looking at a three inch toytec lift and i ask the same question as you did but i was wondering what the tire could rub when i turn so this is what the sent me back hope this info does you better than it did me.

"No tire size fit is guaranteed , of course as you could imagine
any over size tire has a chance for rubbing on the cladding inside of
the wheel well.
I seems to be a 285-70r17 is what most people seem to be going to.
Also watch the tire hitting the upper control arm. Some wheels have a
different back spacing ."

i too am wondering the tire size question and posted a new thread before i saw this one. any ways i have 2 questions about your 5100? how do they ride? and what are your plans for them when you get your new coilovers? im lookign to buy the 5100 if the ride is still very smooth and mellow.

im guessing since im only gonna have 2.5" of lift im gonna do the 265/70/17 or the 275/70/17...but the 5100s ride nice in the front, the reear is bad no matter what you do, unless you get new springs.

I was in the same boat as you are.. I like my stock 17" trd sport package wheels. I have a 3' revtek lift. I just put on 285/70/17 bfg all-terrain from the stock 265/65/17. My tire doesn't on wheel flap or wheel well or bumper because my 3' lift was plenty. I went that way because people told me it would not rub. They did not tell that it rubbed on the A-arms. Yes, my new tires rib on the A-arms..you can't make a u- turn or make a turn in reverse.

285/70/17=32.7" dia. 265/17 bfg is bigger than a 31" hope this helps you. I ma tryin gto resolve my problem. I don't mind about the rub, but my hates it. It is not good anyways acuse you are just gonna waste money on tires.

try wheel spacers that might solve your rubbing problem i have a leveling kit on my truck with the stock rims with p265/70/17 and they still rub a little on the upper a-arm and on the bottom arm

A member on here posted a pic of his truck with the stock 17 sport rims with 1.25 wheel adapters and 285/70/17 and he said it works fine. so i think im gonna give that a shot.
