Default Transmission noise at redline

I always wondered on the Tacomas with the 2rz engines (the only 4 cylinder ones i've ever been in) that when you approach the redline while driving, why does it begin to make so much noise? It is like that on my friends truck too, but it that just from the engine vibrations, a lack of real sound deadening, sloppy tolerances in the tranny, is it actually something else, or what? There is nothing mechanically wrong with these vehicles to my knowledge and I am just curious why they make these noises...so if anyone knows why, tell me!!!!!

Its telling you it don't like to be redlined all the time

I don't have a problem with mine, although it does sound like all hell is breaking loose when it aproches the 5500 mark. Even when I drag race I shift at 5250 as the hp and torque start to drop off. So there is no need to take your engine over 5 grand.

My truck does the exact same thing... From what I understand it is the shifter vibrating. That's what a couple people have told me.

I think what he meant is that pre-01 trucks didn't have balance shafts in the motor which makes them vibrate much more. I have no idea if this is true or not though. I thought it was only the 3RZ motors that had balance shafts.

I'm pretty sure only the 3rz had them but why would the new tacos vibrate less? the 95 to 04 tacos were virtually identical
