Go gear if the price is siimilar. Not really stronger as ive never seen either break, but you have way moregeqr ratio options for 4low with the gear case.

been there done it too, W56. Getting on the highway, 3rd gear, full boost, BANG, thought it was engine, kept driving, sounded like a washing machine full of rocks.

Got a r150 in now, handles the power fine (350rwhp)

LT, what gearing are you running in the rear for your turbo setup?? Thanks. im thinking 4.88s for the 33" but im not sure with the setup of a close gear ratio R151 Transmission.. Your thoughts and advice is appreciated!

4.88 is a little tall for a 4-banger imo. if you are wanting highway mileage then 4.88's with 33's are the way to go. If this rig is going to be for off-road, then I would get 5.29's and call it a day. And I am hoping 'weak' was meant as being to high, not strength wise....

you think 4.88's w/ an R151 Transmission, w/turbo(7psi), would be sufficient for highway use? I was hoping so..

To the OP, did you buy a rebuild kit or a whole diff tranny? Thanks. sorry for thread jacking!

I've been out of the loop for a bit being patient waiting on parts.
I initially purchased 33's when I did my suspension mods and with the stock 4:56 gears and the 3rz it was fine around town, but hit a long hill on the highway you're always getting a run at it in 4th or even 3rd. Now with the power mods, the tire and gear combo are practical and fun too.
I haven't got the truck completely back together yet. I bought a Marlin Crawler R150F HD with billet shift fork, chromoly trust washer, and they did an input shaft swap on my transfer case. From what I've read, the Marlin 05+ bell housing adapter is actually shorter than an OEM 05+ unit so that driveline and cross member problems don't occur.
