A TD04 from a wrx is good for around 280whp w/ proper tuning and e85 on a soob. Subaru's suffer from extra long exhaust systems because of the flat 4 design. The TD04 will spool super fast/early on a 2/3rz. You can pickup an ihi vf series turbo from a newer wrx or sti later on when you max out the td04. (Same bolt pattern etc.). The ihi vf52 is one of the larger versions, and seems to suffer less from cracking around the wastegate like the vf39's did (earlier usdm sti turbos) The vf22 is another one of the larger vf series turbos. You can get on the subaru forms and sometimes get them pretty cheap... I was considering this for my 3rz buildup. But I think I will go the route I have taken many times before, and thats a Holset (hy35,he341,he351 or possibly just an hx35 and go twin scroll or maybe a bep housing). I've run many Holsets, the largest was a Super HX40 w/ a BEP housing, it was a great turbo, even on my little built 2.0.

I just got a hold of a cheap 20g td05. I plan to run it until i can afford a better turbo. do you guys think there will be any issues running the 20g? it will be big enough won't it?

At this point, yes it will be enough
 . Just run it since you already bought it. What will the rest of the setup consist of? Injectors? Fuel pump? Clutch? Wideband? Bov? Short shifter?-try to protect that transmission any way you can What will you use for tuning and who will tune it? I think a good tune will make some decent numbers on the stock motor.

I have rc injectors, a split second ftc1, an aem failsafe wideband, and new plugs and wires from lce. I'm running my auto trans with a transgo shift kit until it blows. Lol. Other various mods too I just can't think of them all right now. Lol.

My first love was a 5spd accord. I almost passed up my taco because it was an auto. But for 900 bucks I just couldn't.
