if im not mistakened, the fj gun metal rims are the same size as the trd sport rims. most people running a 3 inch lift are running a 285/70 tire instead of a 285/75 tire because of rubbing and clearance issues. good luck with it

well the fj's are 16's and the sport's are 17's, but as far as rubbing i'd imagine it would be the same for both.

The Sports are 17x8 and the FJ SE are 16x8

I'm running 285/75 with my FJs and I don't have any rubbing issues with my setup... but keep in mind that I don't flex my suspension out at all...

thanks you soo much. i was wondering who had a similar setup. i won't be doing any flexing either, what type of tires are you running? i was thinking about goodyear mt/r's but might I be leaning towards A/T since I hardly see the trails in Detroit (stationed here in the military), now if i was back home in Texas, definetly have to get mudders.

i know with 285/70/17 on the stock sport rims you need a spacer cause they are 33inches tall and almost 11 inches wide. but what about with 275/70/17? they are approx. 32.2 inches tall and just over 10inches wide? would those still rub? i got the front cranked to 2.5inches of lift and wanna get the biggest tire on stock rim without any problems. thanks

I am thinking about the same thing. largest tires I can get on stock rims with 2.5" billys and no spacer.

you definitely can fit a 285/70 R17 tire on your factory wheel with a 3" lift with no rubbing problems what so ever. it is close but they will never rub! that's approximately a 33" tire and as big as you can go. i know cause i have that exact same size (Goodyear MTR's) on my 3" lifted trd sport. If you want my opinion don't get mud terrains (8 ply) if you don't need them. i got them and wish i had went with a 6 ply all terrain tire instead. less noise and a lot smoother ride! hope this helps you
