well i dunno about the 1gr but with the 2rz intake mani its been said that the design is pretty damn spot on and while, yes there is room to port and polish, the money and time to do it can be better justfied elsewhere.

Just took out the top intake plenum during a recent install, and looking into the manifold, I would say the same for the 1GR. But, if you have the time and or money it could be done. It would probably be a fun project.

What would be awesome is if you got before and after Dyno runs. But then again that will cost more

Have fun.

LCE claims 10-15 hp gain with their ported intake manifold & bored TB. Would imagine even greater gains with a header, CAI / elbow mod / deckplate mod, URD MAF Calibrator, etc.

I'm not familiar, are 1GR manifolds plastic? If so then extrude hone would be a good idea.

did you mean port matching to the gasket?? I can see that may gain you a few ponies but worth the effort? Its all up to you. If you have time to kill then yeah sure.

-cough-sigh-

the intake manifold on the 1GR 4.0 is plastic.

on the older 2RZ and 3RZ you can get some noticable gains because the aluminum is so think and can be machined down to allow more air flow. i SERIOULSY doubt you are gonna do aything but start grinding on your plastic manifold and punch a hole thru it. five bucks says that the 1GR 4.0 manifold is barely 1/4" thick in its thickest place. i have mine taken off since i have the TRD S/C and i've eyeballed the stock intake a few times, its not thick enough to go grinding on, and it doesn't weigh enough to need to worry about trying to make it lighter. i think if you are wanting more ponies, you need to look into a different "proven" modification rather than screwing you stock intake manifold up.
