you dont actually have to have the pink slip, you jsut have to have the replacement pink slip paper work in.... and a bill of sale, when you get it smogged the new owner will have to fill out a paper noting a description of the situation why they do not need to get smogged (only a few sentences) then you should be good, gotta go to the dmv for it though....
and even then make sure the stuff comes in the mail inthe correct time frame, happened to me where we did just this and had everything worked out but my paper work never came in and i wasnt on top of it like i should have been, and i got impounded... turns out the dmv lost the paperwork! i had to pay to get the car out of the yard, and court fees... but i lost like 3 days of work trying to get it all sorted out..... so gay... fvcking dmv pisses me off
