Selling a car without the pink slip?

If you lost the pink slip to a car what form(s) will need to be filled out in order to sell it? Will I just need to fill out a bill of sale and a notice of transfer?

just went through this with my lexus.
u need to go to the dmv, your name needs to match, who the car is reg. too.
they print them off everyday., if the car was financed through a bank, u may need a letter stating the lean was paid in full.

you can but most people wont buy it... they might think that something "shaddddyyyyy" is going on

you can do a transfer of title without it. most importantly is the smog.

after the smog, you need to fill this out. filling out this form enables you to sell the car without a pink slip, or to have a duplicate made.

Nothing shady going on. Mom is selling (More like giving the car) to a friend but she lost the pink slip.

you dont actually have to have the pink slip, you jsut have to have the replacement pink slip paper work in.... and a bill of sale, when you get it smogged the new owner will have to fill out a paper noting a description of the situation why they do not need to get smogged (only a few sentences) then you should be good, gotta go to the dmv for it though....

and even then make sure the stuff comes in the mail inthe correct time frame, happened to me where we did just this and had everything worked out but my paper work never came in and i wasnt on top of it like i should have been, and i got impounded... turns out the dmv lost the paperwork! i had to pay to get the car out of the yard, and court fees... but i lost like 3 days of work trying to get it all sorted out..... so gay... fvcking dmv pisses me off

the car has to be smogged, unless the car has already been smogged within the last 90 days, or you will NOT legally transfer the vehicle over. only time when a smog is not required, is when the transfer is done between immediate family. all gary needs to do is get the car smogged, and fill out those 2 forms. TRUST ME, i've gone thru this twice in the last 6 months.
