i beat a new celica-gts at the track!

it was pouring rain saturday night at my pad, but i went to tracks anyway and cahnced it. I was so stoked when it turned out to be dry at trax.

anyway i made 3 runs, the best run of the night was against a brand new celica gts w/rims kit and probly other blot ons, it was a very nice car. We both had traction problems off the line but took off about even. I pulled ahead by maybe 1 car length going through 2nd gear. While i was topping out 2nd shifting to 3rd he started gaining and i was like "fak its over, here comes the high end pull" but when i got farther into third i actualy pulled away again and ended up beating him by almost .5! before i list my times id jsut like to tell you that track conditions are not to good in ym opinion. The tower lane sux ass, the launching area was actualy wet for god sake. How hard is it to get a towel or some [censored] to make it a little better! But luckily i got 2 runs in the spec lane and that lane feels much better. also the track is basically at sea level if u were curious.

damn, if your s/c'd those times are not too good im sorry to say... i know guys in 3.4 s/c'd 4x4's with 32" tires that run 15.3 1/4's...probably your reaction time though...you'll get it down one day...

i thought reaction time doesnt matter for 1/4 time?

the clock starts when u start moving not when the light goes green right?

cuz if what ur saying is true then i can run mid 14's with a perfect reaction time. and this is a good truck, but mid 14's is not very likely with just a v6 s/c with no other performance mods.

Yup RT has nothing to do with your ET. You can sit at the line for 10 secs and still run a 15.5. Your trap speed on the second run was pretty high. You should hit at least a high 14 with that top end and traction. Try a sand bag or two in the bed. My friend tried that in his V8 B2200 and it worked pretty good. nope, but i think ur talking about SAM. Im supposed to meet him at tracks one day. Hes got the red stepside with a spoiler and i think black gunmetal rims.

i think not having a spare tire is hurting my traction. Thats alot of weight removed from the back end. I had to take it off to fit my dual exhaust.

I'm running mid 14s with just a supercharger and trd filter ... your not pushing that truck , it's a toyota for gods sake. I have been down the track 24 times so far, all my times range from 14.5-15.0 ( 1/2 second on 24 runs.. sweet ) My next mod will be the rear and a short shifter. Once I hit 13s i'll be happy with what I'm driving and I know I should be able to do it.....mM time slips are posted in my gallery. also watch this video and listen for the 3th gear chirp...Keith

great time man, but i guarentee u wont get those times at the track over here. when i get my camcorder back il film next time at tracks and u will see what i mean. Without an LSD u have to choose between burning out or a slow conservative start. And btw the fastest srunner time recorded here was a 15.08 by that dude SAM or somethin real close to that. So that is my goal for now. Pro drag racing is a joke in hawaii compared to the mainland so our track maintenance and conditions reflect that. And they just raised the price to $8 to get in to watch or race.

BTW dude, do you have to shift to 4th or what? I notice that on my "good" runs 3rd gear will hit the rev limiter right be4 the finish. Is that normal? thnx

I don't have my LSD yet it's still sitting next to me at my desk awaiting my tax refund to cover the install price. This track I run at is a mess I mostly go on Fridays (45.00) test and tune on a full weekend it's an unorganized mess. The track West Hampton raceway / Long Island Motorsports Park is located in what was the middle of nowhere back in the 60s now with everything being developed the land this is on is worth millions far more then the owner wants to spend even for the upkeep, he also takes a beating from the town if you start before 1pm the cops will ticket the owner big time. On Friday it's B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Broom). The parking lot is all gravel the pit area is a huge pothole& sand, the is nothing grand about the grandstands but you will use caution walking on the rotting wood, the timing tower was burnt down by an angry driver (a funny story) so the timing is out of a trailer. Making tech could take forever because it’s the same guy that works the lights so he’s busy; His wife works the timing computer and is busy yelling at her kids all this and you can’t hear anything coming out of the broken Dixie cup style speaker. The track surface is were NASA sends it’s lunar vehicles for testing before sending it to Mars. used to be $6, they said thier insurance cost went up 260% so they raised the price.

I have a non supercharged s and have ran a 15.2 at 1600 feet. on a hot day. Even at a poor track you should still be able to break 15's. I say get that locker and some drag raidials and all your problems will be solved then you can start thinking about 13's and lower! At any rate keep going don't be discouraged!

hey souper let some air out man...if trraction is a problem let the psi in your tires down to like 20psi i gaurantee you will hook up better. but with a supercharger you should be hitting high-mid 14's easy.

is 20psi safe for 225/45/17's?

these are Z rated falkens that say 40psi max i think.

hell yeah! I have done around 12-15 just fine. You will be fine at 20!
