does anyone who has calvert traction bars on their x-runner have the measurements they provided calvert? i just want to have something to compare mine to when i order them. also, do they come with a new plate that mounts the bars to the bottom of the springs where the shock is or did you have to make your own mount? since the bars are not listed on their web site for our trucks, i just wondered how much fab work is needed to install them.

I looked at the site the instructions to do measurements is pretty straight forward .like you say though they don't have pic of them shown.can only assume the have the mount built in to the bars.shouldn't be too hard to install.kinda like the rear block install procedure. i gave up the notion after i put the 3/3 DJM drop kit in though think it would drag over speed bumps. could be wrong.don't know for sure.

the only dimension that concerns me is the spring eye bushing dimension. it seems that if that one is off, the bushing might fit loose and rock in there. i guess if no one has used these before, i'll just give it my best shot!

Just call and talk with travis, he knows what you need, I just drove my truck there, and they did the work....

I have had a pair of the low profile Calvert bars installed since May, put on 6-7,000 miles since then... when I autocrossed after lowering the the xr 3" in the rear and R compound tires under hard right turns the truck would vibrate the right rear because the leaf spring was flexing under the pressure... the bars eliminated the flexing and I have not had the problem since...
The bars also stiffen the rear up nicely, with the lowering block and the add a leaf u-bolted to the rear half of the leaf pack the truck would bottom out like crazy with even a little load in the bed so imagine 350 pounds of gear I carry to the road courses including the 4 race tires and just about every other bridge on the interstate was a bottoming out session...
The bars virtually eliminated that by limiting the upward suspension travel of the springs, only under certain hard bumps will it bottom out with a load in the bed and I know where those bridges are on the interstate... sure it is a rougher ride empty but with a load it is better but on the track and road courses the truck rarely loses grip and launching is what you want, spin the rear tires is a breeze to warm up the rears or just simply launch your choice with these bars...
What Calvert uses is the factory u-bolt seats they actually charge a core if you do not send yours to them, they use the cores and weld the lower mounts underneath the u-bolt seats so you can still use the factory lower shock mounts, etc...
Prepare for about 2" of running ground clearance under the rear mount with stock tire size at 255/45... little things like a carwash, mall parking lots with speed bumps and obstacles in the roads can be hazards so these bars require discipline when driving, now unless you get a flat tire you should not hit them at speed on the interstate crossing bridges because it would be impossible and I have driven with mine with over 300 pounds in the bed for thousands of miles...
With my race tires on at 285/30 I actually run barely above 1" of ground clearance under the lower mounts but I have not had any problems running road courses or parking lot courses, you just have to keep an eye out for obstacles... I am an off-roader and raced in Baja so this comes natural with me when driving to look out ahead for obstacles...
Also you have to watch entering steeper driveways and stuff for not only the rear mounts but the bar itself is below the frame rail so straddeling steep driveways will save them also...
The bars are proven with my race experience so far, no spring flex or vibrations from the right rear... you will like them if you can tolerate the lower ground clearance!

yea this loss of clearance bothers me... i drive my Xr LIKE A TRUCK, no doubt about it... and with my quad, or just how i drive, i am unsure if they would clear, i dont wanna have to deal with the risk:shrug: of grinding my bars

oxi, thanks for the info. this is exactly what i was looking for. there is a "real" price for everything and that is what needs to be considered. i guess i ask for the low profile ones and go from there. thanks!
