So after my 4th attempt at having this damn squeak fixed, its back...agaaain. Can anyone say lemon? I had the TSB done last time, still came back. I think we the TSB they are just changing out the actual pedal arm assembly. Meanwhile I think the squeak is actually coming from the master cylinder. Anyway, we'll shall see what happens...

There is no way of knowing whether or not they accually changed the cleave assembally unless you mark the cleave assemlly yourself or know someone in service. Mark it, and demand to have them apply the cleave TSB again. I just had both clutch TSB's installed. I did not mark it, but I am suspiciouus that they did not change mine either. It does not creak, but time will tell. On some of the other post here, people the had both TSB's installed noticed a total change in feel. I did not other than it does not creak.

Thats odd, my creak only happens when its warm to hot in the cab.

I never changed mine out... It seems over time, it's harder and harder to make it come back...

I get it REALLY bad only when it's super hot like most folks... It could happen on cold days when you use clutch a lot...

I sprayed white lithuim grease on mine a few months after I purchased it. Over a year later and 50,000 more miles still no squeak.

I know you shouldnt have to do this to a new truck but sometimes you just have to fix things yourself.:selfbonk:

I have seen several of these and on the last one I did we coated the bushings, spring clip and pivot points with a very very thick grease which Toyota uses on front disc brake shim pads (Toyota disc brake grease) and also Ford has the same type of grease they use on suspension bushings, this stuff is so thick and sticky that it won't come off and very heat resistant, you will have to remove the clutch pedal to do this but I think that there is a good chance that this will cure the problem, only time will tell, I will keep you guys informed on how it does.

I don't have an XR, but have an annoying creeking noise. It happens during the cold seasons, and it used to only happen on cold humid days. Now it happens almost every morning. To cure the noise temporarily (until next morning), I would have to crawl under the truck, and push the push rod (that pushes against the fork) backwards (to the front). I don't even know if this is bad to do for the slave cylinder, but it does work every time. I understand the XRs have problems with the pedal assembly and sometimes the master cylinder, but anyone have similar problems?

By the way, the Toyota techs have seen my truck in 2003, and during the 5 or 6 visits, they replaced the master cylinder twice. The noise came back next winter, and I just try to ignore it now. It does feel like the noise comes from under the truck around the slave cylinder.

On those models there is a plastic bushing that sits in the center of the return spring were the pedal and spring attaches they were bad about wearing out and even falling out overtime, if so you have to pull the clutch pedal assemble out and replace the bushing (white colored) part is very inexpensive.

Hmmm, that's definitely not where the noise is coming from. Do you know of a way to find out if it's the clutch fork or the slave cylinder?

It's kind of hard to pin point those noises you may try feeling certain areas of the clutch pedal with your hands while pressing the clutch pedal down, it could also be in the clutch master cylinder itself and that may be the reason the noise comes and goes.also just try lubing in certain areas one at a time and see where you lubed at the time the noise quits.

I marked the pedal assembly before it went in for the TSB fix and it was changed. Squeak still came back....I have sprayed white lithium grease on it before myself, it would fix for about 3 months, and it would come back.

Where are you guys spraying? I would spray the push-rod, the pivot point...everything, and it would still would come back. It sounds like the squeak is coming from the push rod going inside the the master cylinder.

Someone mentioned that there were two clutch TSB's; is the second one just the "clutch feel improvement" one? I believe they just put a pad underneath the carpet or something.

They are going to be replacing my master cylinder, so we'll see.
