Since I totaled my Tacoma, I am in search of a new truck/SUV. I would love another Tacoma but price holds me back.

Im lookin at a 2000-2001 Jeep Cherokee 4x4. Does anyone have experience with these. I have taken about 5 of these and put them on a lift and they all leak oil and transmission fluid. Some of its minor seepage while some of its a bad leak. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this?

If I can't find a good Jeep, Ill be looking at 1995-1996 Tacomas.

ive been the market for one of these also, ive learned some but not everything, as far as i know they seem to be pretty good suv's, talking to some xj owners they same to last awhile with the orginal engine tranny, ive talked to a few with some with over 300,000 miles with only minor problems, i dont know where your from but around here where i live it pretty hard to find one for sell which says something about them i think, modifications seem to be pretty easy and parts while sometimes expensive are easy to find according to my research, as soon as i find one that i like im getting it for sure

Yes they are common for sale around here but owners of them love them. Some people talk down on them and say Jeep sucks but I think it should be ok. I bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport 4x4 with the 4.0L. It has 99K miles for $6200. I couldn't find a 1995 Tacoma 4x4 with mileage near that for that price and no where close to that price for a 2000 Tacoma.

The work that is being done to it for me to buy it is a new oil pan, valve cover gasket, rear differential gasket, and fix power window switches. I brought the Jeep down to my work and went over it thoroughly and everything else checked out fine.

I do still plan on owning a newer Tacoma later on, again.

my first/last vehicle was a 90 cherokee pioneer 4x4 4.0L, it was pretty good offroad for an all stock vehicle. i went offroad with it, had it a little bit in the rockers into some mud that when i got out, i barely sunk in, and was able to rock it out, so, i consider it to be pretty good to have gotten out of that. it was unreliable for me. my biggest problem, i replaced every injector atleast once within the appx. year i had it. my cousin has a 97 right now, and hasnt had any problems out of it other than visual stuff, and she treats it like total CRAP, they are pretty good, i just had bad luck, and was ready for something newer and safer, im sure that you'll love the cherokee
