XRobber 12-19-2006, 08:51 AM Okay I need my oil changed...
I go to Autozone to pick up the items.
The oil - no problem. they have my flavor.
The oil filter..... the only thing they had was FRAM...
After about walking out of the place, the guy stopped me and asked if i would like a K+N oil filter at the same price as the fram $6.00....
I said sure.
I have never used a K+N Oil filter... has anyone else?
I am usually pretty picky when it comes to this kind of stuff, but If I get good reviews from you guys ill use it. Otherwise I will return it.

03TacoPre 12-19-2006, 08:57 AM rob,
autozone also carries the mobil 1 filters...
part # M1-102
MNewman 12-19-2006, 09:04 AM I am running a k/n and royal purple and havent had any problems with it.
hack6500 12-19-2006, 09:06 AM if K&N makes oil filters like they do air filters... i have never cut one open, i did buy one tho, and it has sat on my shelf for at least 3 years, wish i could return it...
the Mobil1 #M1-102 must be the 4.0L short guy, i have the #M1-209 as the oversized filter. i have never used these personally... please confirm this so i can add it to my serivce guide.
i prefer the Fram DG3600 or the SuperTech ST3600 from walmart, they get the job done good for a fair price.
03TacoPre 12-19-2006, 09:22 AM i've used the mobil 1 filter a few times this year....never had any issues with it...good strong outer casing (you can test by squeezing..and you'll be suprised when you squeeze different brands), reportedly made by wix.
Taco King 12-19-2006, 09:37 AM How much does the Mobil 1 oil and filter cost at AutoZone?
I have been getting oil and filters at Wal-Fart ..... but I hate going there, because it is a pain-in-the-a** to get in-to and out-of.
XRobber 12-19-2006, 09:41 AM lol back to the questions haha
Anyone use K+N oil filters on thier ride?

Anyone use K+N oil filters on thier ride?
nope,
just giving alternatives!
shaanlikestaco 12-19-2006, 10:11 AM I have cut all of them open and the only filter that really would make a difference is the Amsoil filter. They are all the same thing, K&N just throws a wire screen around the element.
mrbigbri 12-19-2006, 10:47 AM I like the K&N only for the little socket they have on the end that you can attach your rachet to...
Brian
I used to be on the evo forums when I owned an evo and someone did a test where they cut open several different brands of oil filters and K&N actually looked very good. Fram is garbage, as we all should already know. You should be fine with the K&N.
spyder041 12-19-2006, 02:51 PM i have a K&N and no problems. Im very particular about using the oil and filters on my truck also. The big seller for the K&N for me was there anti-drain thing. Prevents dry start ups:waytogo:
Swift 12-19-2006, 11:09 PM I have run either K&N or Purolators on my Yotas for the last 10 years with no difficulties.
TahoesHateMe 12-20-2006, 02:41 AM I've been using K&Ns on my Bike for some time. No problems.
5000XD 12-20-2006, 03:31 AM I run K&N oil filters on the XR, 4Runner and T100, no problems. Before that I had amsoil but they were way too much of a pita to get my hands on for way too much $.
Try the K&Ns, you'll like them, the nut on top is just a crazy easy way to tighten or remove the filter.
screbr 12-20-2006, 08:34 AM From what I've seen, K&N oil filters have done very well in independent studies. Their drop in air filters on the other hand have had mixed reviews.
If you got a K&N oil filter for $6, you got a steal, and a great filter. You should asked for a basketful....
boomersooner5234 12-20-2006, 08:54 AM :waytogo: k&n is the way to go
