I brought my truck in for 50,000 mile service (after only 10 months!) and one of the things recommended was a fuel air induction test. Something about carbon buildup I think. What is this and is it really worth $150?
Also, is there a list of parts that differ from 05 to 06? I needed brake pads today and the local parts store didn't have any listing.

I think you are talking about a fuel induction service, which includes: cleaning the throttle body, adding injector cleaner to the tank, and running top engine cleaner through the engine. The service should run $69 or so at the dealer.
I don't think it is a necessary service yet. I'd probably wait until 80k or so, unless your accelerator pedal is sticking.

To answer your first question, they will probably run a cleaner through your induction system to clean the pistons and valves of carbon buildup. There are 2 products that I know of that you can use: one is BG44K (or something like that), and the other is SeaFoam. A can of seafoam will run you $5, and will take about 10 mins to do everything. There is loads of info on this site about seafoam and how to use it. But do not pay $150 for a Seafoam like product and a fuel injection cleaner.

In all fairness if they actualy do the service correctly. They will hook it up to a fuel system flush machine and actually pump the cleaner thru the injectors under various power loads. Yes, you can do the seafoam and on a truck with under 75k, thats all I would say you need. But if you are prone to buying "cheap" fuel and doing alot of stop and go type driving, the fuel system flush may be worth it.. And I may be wrong, but I believe after the flush they change your fuel filter as well..

Hows could your accelerator pedal stick with throttle by wire:confused:

throttle cable is attached to the MAF. If inside gets dirty/gunked up then the throttle cable will stick:silly:

We are talking abou an 06 I think, and there is no throttle cable to speak of just a pair of wires that control a servo that opens the butterfly in the throttle body that is well upstream of the maf :D

Hows could your accelerator pedal stick with throttle by wire:confused: Yeah, I forgot about it not having a cable. At any rate, a gunked up throttle body is not good either way.
