What we all need is the drop kit for one... Maybe the S/C kit, but for damn sure we need a few of these in the showrooms...

Sucks that Toyota don't plan on producing it and just run a few of these privately just to tease people though..

P.S. The black light mod originally came from the SEMA truck, we just kind copied off that sorta speak... A few of us kinda wish we can buy those as stock parts... I've seen dakinisbatman's truck and he done such a nice job on his it almost look like the truck came out of the factory with black lights...

Honestly, I find the stock bumper to be wayyyyy too functional to replace it with that show piece... I've hit walls with it backing up, I've stepped / jumpped on it and it's sturdy as a rock... It saved the rest of the bumper from hitting anything and I wouldn't think twice about replacing the to hitch attachment part of the rear bumper...

Then I stopped to think for a second... Who the hell is going to by that XR if they ever made it just to deliever stuff??? WTF am I thinking?

You can make any bodykit work with a bit of fiberglass work... My front bumper is messed up and I would LOVE to have a big ol cow catcher freaking opening in the front like that... Not to mention the grille... The XR's front fascia is already one of the best looking things I've ever seen on a vehicle, but damn that SEMA kit better make it out for production...

I'm actually kinda sadden though from the 2nd viewing of this truck and how less wide the kit is compared to when I first saw it... I guess I just like that Robotech looking crap...

while using the intake from the scoop was cooler and a good attempt to make that scoop functional, they found that it wasn't as effective as the current setup that you see in the pictures.

a lot of the parts on that truck you should see available from TRD (in due time) so you can build your own super X.

You know, you should round out the bottom more to look a bit more like the stock lip kit... I'm in desperate need of a replacement front bumper without the need to change the side skirts... I want a kit that'll blend in with the stock skirts but just a bigger cow catcher front...

This chop is a really good direction towards what I would want to put on my truck... Although I know a damn cow catcher with a big ol FMIC looks totally bammer, but heck I have a gash I can't live with on my bumper and I rather look bammer than to miss out on picture taking...

P.S. Anyone remember what happened to the thread with the aftermarket 05+ kits? I remember it was in fiberglass un-painted form and was awesome... I'm going to try to dig that up...

I printed a few copies of this article to spread around at work. We've been hearing the same rumor for almost two years now about a supercharger kit. I'm sure it would be an aftermarket add-on. I don't think Toyota trusts us to drive a supercharged truck off the line. :)

I just got my new copy of Sport Compact Car and it has a three page spread of the TRD Xrunner. First pages are a pic of it in full sideways drift. They clain 400bhp on the truck.
"9.2:1cr CP pistons, Carillo rods, minor machining to stock crank".
Heads and gaskets are stock with minor port matching.
Custom ground cams; 214.5 intake and 212.5 exhaust.
80mm TB from a Toyora V8
Tubular 3-1 headers to hi-flow cats.
Top-fed panel intake filter through the stock hood scoop.
Custom Toyota ECu with 410/cc injectors.
Stock mainfold bosses
Two additonal injectors (before compressor)
e-throttle.
Suspension: Revalved struts, stock rate lowering springs, 35mm fron sway and 28.6mm rear sway

" TRD won't be offering the 400bhp version of the supercharger kit, but will offer the same blower tuned to 310 ponies on pump gas."

umm, i don't get it! if it is an aftermarket part sold under the meanufacures logo or performance devision as an acceptable replacement part for the vehical it has to be warrantied! you will win that battle all day in court. the manufacture can not void your warranty for a part they sell and or put on your car.

thats like saying, "sir, b/c you put on the optional wheel package that we offer for your vehical, we can no longer honor your warranty!"

Considering the Xrunner S/C uses a large, front-mount. air-to-water intercooler, I'd bet the cost of the kit being a bit higher. Hell, when the original 3.4 s/c came out it was close to 3 grand with no where near the proper equipment/accessories to go with it.Thank goodness for URD (which wasn't around at the time). :D

if that were true you wold not be able to buy TRD parts in a dealership. TRD would not make enough in sales from aftermarket parts to sustain its racing program on its own. the racing program would belly up. their is too much competition with other part companies.

even small companies make TRD obsolete. they depend on car sales to sustain the program. same thing with ford racing. they are all like that.

Looks like that SEMA truck does infact actually move
http://www.truckmoxie.com/tenarticle.asp?aid=2935&sid=18
looks like they redid the intake on it

The yellow one actually has a Ford 9-inch rear-end to handle the 400 hp...

The truck that we all should be interested in is the one in the middle, the actual test truck and not the all for looks yellow one...

Toyota will offer a s/c that will pump out 310 hp and not the full 400 hp version...the rear-end and stock tranny just cannot handle that much power people!

TRD had Hotchkis make the 35mm front and 28.6mm sway bars so maybe they will release a kit soon...

The under-belly pan is unique and helps with high speed aerodynamics, keeps the truck planted to the ground, it is basically a sealed carbon-fibre pan from the back of the lower a-arms to the back of the tranny from frame rail to rail and is sealed to prevent air from getting trapped underneath lifting and slowing the truck down at speed...it has 2 baffolds at the rear incase some air does get in...

The body kit wraps the body closer to the frame again to prevent air from getting trapped lifting and slowing the truck down at speed, better aerodynamically...

Folks, all I can say is try and build your own, you might build one better...if your patient, I am sure Toyota will have something out there soon!

You need to go look that one up. The manufacture can void your warranty for using parts that they sell and install if it is labeled that way.

Besides the law does not say anything about warranties for parts they sell it says they can not force you to buy OEM only it says they can not void your warranty because you installed AEM parts that are manufacture specs. :waytogo:

I think the toyota rear would hold 400hp no problem. I have never heard of rears going out in them to often.

handling power is one thing....but the how aggressive the LSD engages is another thing. That's a huge help for powering out of corners and getting the power to both wheels more evenly

but thats easy enough to through a trutrac in there and be done. Toyota ring and pinion I have no doubt would handle 400hp no problem

Learn from the off-roaders, top Toyota teams that race in the desert run Ford 9-inch rears because they are stronger!

TRD is using them on their 2 test trucks...

The Toyota rears are fine for stock applications but when you keep adding more torque, strength over long-term becomes a question...

Heck even Ivan Stewart's 4-Runner pre-runner back in the day (mid-90's) had a Ford 9-inch rear!

I know because Ivan passed us as we were prerunning the '95 Baja 500 and asked us how we were doing...

You guys do know that they (I think TRD), dropped a Tundra motor on a Tacoma frame, right? Thought I'd bring it up cuz Toyota sent me articles about SEMA show thing. That thing S/C'd would be pretty bad ass. :headbang:

I'm tired of TRD promisses! :puke:

Honestly, the make me puke as well! Plus they can't spell. It should be TURD!
They came out in '05 talking all kinds of smack about the X & now 2 years later what do we have from them? Absolutely no support & what little they have made for the X can be had for cheaper from URD. They have NO cred w/me! And all you guys waiting for their overpriced crap to come out will have probably sold your trucks by that time...that is if it EVER comes out!
