aftermarket throttle body

EL Prototypes make a throttle body with a 3mm overbore. I was wondering what the horsepower gain would be if this product would be installed on a 2.4 liter 4cyl?

6-8 HP depending on other mods.

I agree, I was thinking about 2-5 with not many mods....

make sure your intake manifold is port matched orelse you won't see much of an increase. basically the over bored throttle body is design for better flow but if you intake manifold isn't port matched then it does you no good cause the intake manifold hole is smaller and your back to sqaure one. I hope this makes sense cause I work on alot of other cars that's how I know this.

I just got an LC bored throttle body for my taco and I'm going to install it this weekend, but as someone else said you must port match your intake manifold or you just wasted your money. I would guess it would give about 6-8hp depending on the other mods you have on your truck. I'll let you know if it makes a noticeable diff if you want.

I bought a 3rz throttle body for my '96 4x4 and found out that the '96 3rz has all kinds of interesting variation within the year, so things like vaccum lines might be in different places. I returned it and will buy one when a 190 series core comes in... The HP gains are supposed to be about 6-7, if you have intake, exhaust and headers it will probably be a couple more. Make sure to buy a chilton's or haynes manual to set up the TB or you might really screw up your ECU...

What's the TB? What kind of problems can be caused to the ECU?

TB= Throttle Body. What needs to happen is the throttle postition sensor needs to have the correct resistance set, which can be acheived by adjusting the throttle stop screw to factory specs. This can be done with some feeler guges and an ohmeter. The butterfly valve also needs to be set so it does not have any incidental contact. If you just install the TB w/o any adjustments, (which you should NOT do) if your truck even starts it will run very erratic as the ECU tries to compensate for something it can't recognize. I highly dis-recommend this as you can really mess things up and possibly do some real damage.

I just installed my 2rz tb. Got it from LC eng. I have a 95 taco and there were tons of variations in tbs so first I got the wrong one then they sent me this one and it was such a close match although still not exactly the same serial numbers I put it on and whoa! Very noticeable power increase then again I have a ton of sh*t already on my truck. Only thing is now the truck idles super high when in gear around 700Rpm and when in park round 1200RPM. Also where the tb and the intake manifold meet is not a smooth transition (there's a ridge about 1-2mm high btw them). If anyone has done this upgrade also let me know how it went.
