i was planning on being at slamfest all weekend but plans have changed. i bought a house and was supposed to close on 9/22 but closing got bumped to 9/28. i have to take that day and the next off to have all my stuff moved out by the 30th when my lease expires on my current place. this all threw off my work schedule with having to take a 4 day weekend and now i have to work the weekend of slamfest. i still plan on coming up friday night and hanging out though and also possibly saturday night too.

in the past, you could pre register on Friday at the fairgrounds. I think 9/30 may be the last day for them to receive your registration by mail. Someone may want to contact them from their site, minimadness.com

Talked to Minimadness today. Pre-registration Must be by the 30th. If it is not postmarked by then, you will be waiting in the registration line at the fairgrounds Friday.
If you pre-register, you go through to the other line to get your armbands and passes.

It is too late to preregister. . . registration is Friday from 3 PM til 8 PM and Saturday from 7 AM til 1 PM. Day of show registration is $50 CASH ONLY and includes passes for 2 people and 1 vehicle for the weekend. You may come in Friday and reserve a space for your club. Please do no reserve more space than necessary and you must be back by 9 AM on Saturday or risk losing your space. Please bring your own materials to mark off your reserved space. Spectator hours are Saturday, 9 AM til 5 PM and Sunday, 9 AM til 4 PM. Spectator cost is $15 per person, per day. Children 12 and under are free. No golf carts, scooters or pocket bikes are allowed this weekend unless you can show proof of insurance on the golf cart, scooter or pocket bike. No pets are allowed with the exception of handicapped assistance animals. Small coolers are allowed, but alcohol, gla** bottles and grills are not. No weapons of any kind are allowed on the fairgrounds at all. This is a state law and will be enforced. All vehicles are subject to search. i had a good time this weekend however i didnt get a chance to come by and say hey...but i was right around the corner by the b\d jeep and all my Relaxed boys...BBQ on sat night at our hotel went off without a hitch...hopefully next year i will be rollin in somethin to talk about with you all:D...later

I think that was the biggest complaint from everyone that I heard. You compiled all the nissan's and toyota's into "import mini truck" and you know there were alot of those there. Same with domestic classes and full size classes.

In my opinion get rid of all the stupid honda's that roll around in there... I know its a "custom" show, but I come for the trucks and I'm sure 75% of the people that attend come for them too :waytogo:

Maybe be more selective about what cars can show inside -- its just my opinion, but i felt like there were cars parked outside that were far more deserving of an inside spot after seeing some of the feature vehicles inside. Then again, I dont know how that whole process works. :shrug:

Was there ever an official itinerary for Slamfest? I dont think i've ever seen one in all the years I've attended -- I'd like to see one made available at least on the website.

Oh, and I heard more than a few people complain about the judging confusion, the whole judging process is pretty fuzzy, many people didn't even know what class or category they fell under. That's one reason I didn't even bother getting judged.

Also...
The stage can not be heard from all the parked areas, so we missed the club games, and almost missed the bikini competition.
An Itinerary like mentioned about would be AWESOME like a show schedule...

If i remember correctly in 2003, along with registration paper when you first pulled up was an itinerary with schedule and time of all the events. It was 2 sided. One side was saturday and the other sunday. :thinking:

i agree with the above with a itinerary. I didnt bother to get judged cause i didnt know what class i would be in. What also happened with the security on sunday? no beer and alcohol is fine by me, but if i am entering my truck i feel as though i should be able to bring my own drinks and food for personal use. $3 for a soda(cup full of ice) is just a little too much for me several times a weekend Also any word if there will be more vendors in the future? All in all i believe it is still a good show and fairly well organized for its size

VOLUME ON STEREOS MUST BE KEPT AT A NOMINAL VOLUME!!!!!!!!!!!
I know that stereos are a big part of Slamfest. But many people took this to a new level by blarring there incredibly horrid sounding systems all weekend long. Save your system for the sound compitition. We were always irritated with serveral sombodies turning there music up to a point that was unbearable 30feet away from their car. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!


As far as "ricer hondas" and being a owner of one I believe that there are several different catagories of vehicles at the show (minitrucks, lowriders, classics, import, domestic, etc) and everyone should be allowed. in my opinion i would like to see more speed oriented cars and trucks there. Everyone has there own taste and own opinion and it should be respected at all times, If you dont like it dont look at it.

Danielle and Rob went to Sams Club to fill the cooler with waters and sodas. when they got to the fairgrounds they (not minimadness) made them take nearly all of the drinks out. they said something along the lines of only 5 waters, 5 sodas. we got them back later in the day... but I don't want to say how as it might get someone in trouble. heh :waytogo:

To clarify:

This kinda chapped my a$$ considering I just bought it a half hour before, and I was filing up a cooler for 20 people.
Minimadness explained it was the vendors at the fairgrounds that were complaining, and MM thought it was Bull****.

The fairgrounds are a pain in the ass.. striaght up.. thats all there is to it..
The sterio's will be dealt with next year.. we know that no one could hear the DJ annoucing about all the activities all day due to this problem. When you can here the DJ you will hear when judging is and when it ends.. As far you us taco guys that came threw judging.. there are 3 different categories in the import mini truc.. Conservative, Mild,and Wild. The show was started around trucks... but yet its not named truckfest... NOR is it named DONKFEST or RICEFEST... BUT if you saw the white civic inside.. he got best import car with $500.. if you remember it.. it was inside last year and it was blue.. he TOTALLY rebuilt that car.. Next year I think it will be alot better as far as feature trucks and trucks like that.. alot of people didn't get there trucks done by slamfest this year.. trucks that would compete with Jen's s10..

As far as inside vehicles go.. that is a upon request only.. so if you dont request or ask.. you wont be inside.. I know marcus contacted us about being inside.. Reason we didn't have the building full is becuase we didn't have enought people that wanted there vehicle inside.. We are working REALLY hard for next year to get alot more vendors.. vendors like JL, MATTS, autozone or discount, get suicidedoors back with parts, and vendors like that. As you saw, we had Sound Advice this year... which was a major sponsor.. we'll be working SEMA real hard to get alot of big name sponsors next year...

I think I answered everyones concerns and questions.. oh.. and guys.. please read the flyers we send out.. please read them.. we have sooo many people that bring stuff... like "I want to use my sword for my hood prop" no man.. you can use your sword are your hood prop.. which he never came back for as of last I heard... The fairgrounds is under all new managerment the last two years.. and the guy we dealt with every year.. they fired and had to hire 4 people just to do his job.. and this past year they had a new food vendors conpany working for them.. hahaha.. they dont like us..

Threaten to take it elsewhere if they want to be *******s about it. Maybe that will change their mind?
