Drag racing... I mean come on, the regular Taco has the same engine and the same tranny in it... You can get a reg cab V6 and beat a in the straight line...

The XR is remarkable because it has the ability to hug corners... If people don't buy it to run laps I'm going to be very saddened http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I've never been much of a fan of 1/4 miles and never like Nascar... JTGC is always been my fav type of race and I would love to see some folks venture into that with me http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Still, for those that bought the XR for the 1/4... Why?

You sure you can get a reg cab with the v6?

Side note, why would you ever buy a PICK UP TRUCK to "hug corners?"

it weighs too much, is body on frame, to high, has a solid rear axle, not to mention the weight and traction issues that you have with pickups, and you want to go run laps with it?

Buy a freaking sports car, dont talk crap about other peoples intentions when yours are just as retarded.

As far as I know you cannot get the 6cyl in the std cab. Unless its a PreRunner. I would rather see it in the lower 2wd version.

no it has to be ex cab before they will put a v6 in it period.

no v6 prerunner standard cabs, ever. there was a 4x4 standard carb, thats it.

From '95 to '04, you could NOT get a V6 in a single cab, no matter the drivetrain. If you got a 4wd or a prerunner single cab, it was a 3rz. If you got a mini single cab, it was a 2rz.

You could, however, get a V6 in a regular cab pretaco, but ONLY with a 4wd.

From '05, i dunno sh!t.

well...actually... i think up until 96 or 97 you could get the 3.4 in the reg cab... but hense it was 4x4 ONLY and this was before the prerunner was introduced... but definetly from 98-on there are no regular cabs with the v6 engine... thats common sense i thought

Thats funny, I drove one about 3 mos ago prior to purchasing my '03 Dub. It was 4x4, single cab, 5 speed, V6, stripper model. Had manual windows/locks/etc. If I recall correctly, it was a 1997. I had a friend with me who worked for a Toy dealership for many years. He explained that they only put the V6 in the std. cab for a coupla years, then discontinued it. And no, it was not a swap, the truck was bone stock and on a dealers lot. Apparently its tacomas in general, not '05 and up, that are your weak point LOL... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The only way to get the v6 in the 2005 Tacoma is the X-Runner or the pre-runner/4X4

The reg. height Tacomas come with the 2.7L 4cyl.
