I talk with a guy here that sells sliding windows and he said that only a 01-04 window would work on my 02 truck,He said something to the effect that 01-04 were glued in ??He works for a large co.that sells windows an other glass products so he said he knew for sure, because it was my understanding that as long as you had a sliding window an same gasket that went with that window that 98 through 04 would work ?? what do you guys know about this ??

do not mean to sound stupid but that is the wat he explained it,said that I DID NOT USE A GASKET I think what he was saying was where the gasket goes arounf the window, that the new ones use some kind is silcone glue either just glued on the the insideof the window frame http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif that faces the truck, then stuck to the truck itself ,I do not know for sure it would be nice to see one installed before I trade or go out and buy one,The weather is really nice here right now and the GAS is really high so I was hoping to stop a/c usage and save gas also it makes a good place to remove smoke odr out of trucj and flick ashes .also which is best 4 pcs slider or 3 pcs ,I hate the rattle that I havr gotten from my othertrucks and sliders are they beteer these days ,should I just get the one from the dealer are from a glass co.that has a good quality one with a good warranty ??

i think the reason they are saying that about the sliding window must come out of an 01+ is because in 01 the changed the window from 4 piece to 3 piece. my solid came from an 02 and i can tell you for a fact it was not glued in.

we with my experience with the siding rears... I have the 4pc.... no rattling EVER. Gasket can be taken out quite easily, not glued.

I swapped my slider out of a 96 x-cab with a solid out of an 02 and they fit. I know the slider gasket wont work with a solid, dealer wanted $50 for that.

By the way, flicking ashes out the sliding window won't work very well. They'll be sucked back in to the cab http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If you're rolling down the front windows and opening the rear slider instead of using the AC you'll actually use more gas. This is according to some test I saw on TV, don't remember the name of the show.
