XR's: California (CA)

I spotted a parked black X today. I knocked on few nearby doors and tracked down the owner. It was definitely an awesome truck. A real head-turner. Good looking, but huge compared to the S Runner. He took me for a spin and the thing felt pretty bad ass as far as the suspension went. He jumped on it and it could move, but it didn't feel anything like my blown S. It was quick, but just--------

--------Just not an S.

And I know, the way I drive, I'd be a ticket-gettin' machine in that X. VERY high profile. Nothing low key about it. But then, it's not supposed to be. It may be one of, if not the best looking new truck out right now. But.........

When I took him for a ride in my S, I watched him grip the door handle for dear life. Saw the look of utter shock and fear when I put my foot into it. As far as feeling raw pull, I think the S kinda blew his mind. He didn't know what to expect (But then, neither do supercharged Mercedes SL 55 owner's when they can't outrun you). Don't get me wrong, the X was really cool, but with the extra feedback of the engine/tranny noise coming through the LC shifter, along with the scream of the blower in the S, you know you're riding in one of the all time great stealth sleepers, something truly special. Nobody ever sees it coming but they sure see it pulling away. Now, more than ever, I'm lovin' the '04 over the '05. No offense X owners, it'd be my second choice.

Blown always has the advantage of added boost... Once you hit full boost the pull will always feel different...

I came from a long line of small displacement F/I cars and always perfered the "feel" of the pull that you get from hitting peak boost than a N/A large displacement car...

Fast N/A cars usually have a torquey feel to it and while not glueing you as hard to the seat, they do move...

Do you have a regular blown SR or do you have all the other supporting mods?

I definately have to come out to a meet and take a ride... I kinda hate the XR for growing a bit myself, but I do love the fact that the truck is big because thats what I expect of it being a truck and all...

If the grille on the 04 looks more like the 05 and the interior was exact same as 05 I'd be in a SR myself... (I dig the sleeper look)

I was driving around a little earlier out in Modesto CA with a buddy in his STi, and a black XR drove by us at an intersection. It was dropped down to the friggin ground, had exhaust, and TRD badging on it. What the Hell?! I said. Has anyone else heard of one of these or is it just somebody doing their own mods. I am keeping my camera in my truck now, so if I see it again out there I will make sure to take some pics, and/or try and talk to the owner to see what the hell it is. WJP

I saw the S runner first i was down at this JOB site looking for some guys to yell at right there at 15 and MURRIETA HOT SPRINGS exit. there making some kind of shooping center or something its called MURRIETA SPECTRUM. i got back on the 15 and i was passed by that S RUNNER while i was merging onto the 15 freeway NORTH BOUND. SWEET RIDE AIR BAGS? it seemed your front end was way higher than the front. ABOUT the the X RUNNER i saw it after i was in murrieta i had to go to riverside and i saw the X around 740 around THE MADISON OR AUTO CENTER EXIT. i think the driver was white and i think he had a CAP on. Like i said after i saw the X i noticed the TOYOTA DEaler on the right side where i saw 2 X RUNNER SITTING there FOR SURE i saw a RED ONE not sure if the black one was a PRE RUNNER or a X

So, myself and a co-worker are heading to lunch near Aero Drive. I see a blue X get behind me in the left turn lane at Arco station off the 15. I get on it a lil bit at the green and he gives chase, only for me to pull into Roberto's for my highly coveted California Burrito (yumm.)

So he blows by me and comes back. I step outside to chat with him. He says that he purchased (well his parents) the truck a few months ago, it already has 13k on it, and it looks beat down. The interior was dirty as all hell, body kit falling off on the driver's side. I didnt get a look at the engine, but I can only imagine.

So after giving it the once over, he tells me that he's selling it for, get this, only $8k. I ask him why so cheap and he tells me that since it's already paid for and he's not big into trucks he doesn't want it anymore. Says it's thrashed 'cuz he'd let his friend's borrow it for weeks at a time.

I didnt know what to make of this guy, but he told me where he works, so if anyone wants to gamble on an $8k X-runner, I can try to get in contact with this kid.

Thats the type of those little rich bitches that just need punched in the face cause they dont appreciate anything they have...God what a punk

I spotted this RED X -RUNNER in this shopping center infront of WALMART on LONE HILL and the 210 freeway. i think its SAN DIMAS there not sure i was driving by i was about to hop on the 210. i wanted to know what kind of hard cover is that you got on the X look good. i need to get a cover . brand ? price ? where to go to get one?

The only XRs I've seen on the road are all black LOL... I've seen about 2 other ones...

The best compliment came from a little boy (~6 years old) I was coming out of a store and this kid is freaking out and pulling on his dad's shirt saying "OOOoooohhh Dad look!" while pointing to my truck. Then they get into a lifted 3/4 ton C/K.

Also I get guys at the gas station asking me about my X. Which is nice cause when I pay 2.80-3.10 a gallon to fill her up. I need a little reminder why I pay >$50.00 a tank.

oh yea, ill be ordering my billet grille and racing stripes soon, so if you see an xr with stripes, it's me heh. The stripes im gettin are rectangular, 10 inches wide, and they will be placed 3 inches apart. White too, so it'll have that kinda AC Cobra look.

I don't frequent East bay much, but you should really give me an excuse to... Everyone with a XR in the city don't like takling very much apprently...

It doesnt seem like they are that rare out in Cali. I have only seen 4 different X's here in AZ. Then I went to Cali for one weekend and saw 3 on the drive up, and then like 2 or 3 more while staying there.

I have yet to see another X runner in socal. but on a side note my truck looks next to all those other trucks in my sig

Then last friday night, I finally saw my first blue XR... I then saw another one but don't know if it's the same one in another part of town...

Both times they were parked... The streets were super dark and the blue XR just lit up like the mid of day... I then shouted out OH [censored] FINALLY A BLUE XR!!! While my friend looks at me like WTF?!?!

Then the second time I did the same thing but I was in the middle of conversation while driving and just totally went off-topic and said "OH [censored] ANOTHER ONE!!!" then they just went ballistic how crazy I get when I notice them and how in the world did I even see it haha...

To me, these trucks radiate light when there is none LOL... Look almost like a total eclipse with the sun poking right back out behind the moon!!!

So if you do go up to someone else with an X, be prepared to get looked at weird. Most people just don't see it as anything special, nor do they feel any sort of 'connection' with other X-Runner owners/enthusiasts.

I get more attention than I could have ever imagined with this blue truck. Its crazy, your eyes are just attracted to the color. If you want attention, you definitely need Speedway Blue (I wanted red, by the way, but haven't been disappointed in my purchase).

During the day, I would see another black truck, and sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's a XR or not!!!

I've only seen one red one driving on an empty road, so I know for sure they're easy as hell to spot...

Today and this past weekend I ran into 3 X's. On saturday night downtown by music in the park I saw a black one. Sunday I seen a red one on 680 northbound just before milpitas. And today I saw a blue one on first street right by piercy toyota while give the service technician a ride for the grinding tranny. Who are you guys? We have to set up a san jose crew. Me and my boy have 2 black X's with the gaylord tonneau covers to be put on in a couple weeks. Well if you guys are on this forum, hit me up.
