I just found this forum a few months ago and never realized there was such thing as a x runner. I have never even saw one in person. I am considering trying to trade my prerunner for an x runner. Anybody have any opinions as to how good of a trade I would get. My prerunner is silver, bumbers and all. Also vent visors, and bug shield is painted to match and windows are tinted. I have 18's on it with 265'60'18 tires that I just put on last week. I would assume I should just take those off before trading. My prerunner has 27,000 miles with the 3.4.

Here's my advice...... My Advice (http://www.kbb.com)

Dealerships will most likely give you about $3-4K back of book on your trade in. You save a bit because you'll only pay tax on the difference of the 2. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I traded my 2002 Regular cab Prerunner 4 cyl. in for an '05 Xrunner a week ago. My prerunner had about 23,000 miles. Dealers gave me 8500 for it. Yea I got screwed a bit but I had to have the X. Its worth the trade. The X rules. Get lots of stares from people.

How come you didnt just try and sell the truck before you got the x runner. Mine is 4door power everything with towing package. there is no way I would trade for that.

Did'nt have the time. Im impatient--and when I went to the dealer and saw the one and ONLY red X-runner in the showroom I had to have it. If your trying to sell your truck, do NOT go to the dealership to look at the X-Runners!!! You'll want it right then and there trust me!!!!

Yea Toyota's hold resale value damn good. Chevy's and Fords get pocket change on trade ins. I know cuz my girlfriend traded in her Chevy for an Acura and got royally SCREWED "just because its a Chevy"

I love my Toyota. I'll never go domestic!

I just spoke with Beaman in Nashville TN and they had no x runners but said they could get one. He said the last one they sold was $3000 over msrp. He said there was no way he could sell it for 500 under msrp.. Why would u pay that much over msrp??? He will be callin me back to give me a price on trade in. I also received an email from capital toyota in chatanooga tn. He said they would have one in a month or so and the price was expected to be 28,000. I might just have to keep that prerunner if I cant get one for at least msrp..

It is always a rule of thumb to do your buy / trade in seperate... You'll always get a better figure at the end...

Still, any mark up is rediculous... You can tell them to shove it unless thats your only dealer around... I'd say a 50 mile drive isn't out of the question since I emailed all the dealers within that range and I live in San Francisco (tons of dealers)...

A car / truck only depreciates, saving NOW only mean when you sell your car / truck you already gained that much back...

How many people will kill to mark up their old car / truck $500 more on resale? By time I pick up mine, I would have $700 marked up on my resale http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

KAuss, what do you mean by buy/trade in seperate???

You usually go into a dealer and say you want to "buy a truck" and thats it...

Then when you are ready, trade in your old truck at a seperate time... You'll usually get a better deal on your trade in, and a better deal on you XR...

What they're doing now is probably saying "our XRs sell for a mark up of blah blah" then give you a GREAT deal on your trade in to offset that where in reality they're just marking your Pre Taco off...

I'd get a few quotes tho, if you have choices of dealer, then 2 - 3k markup on the XR is rediculous...

Good luck in your findings tho... Let that XR sit on the lot, no one will buy it for 26K man...

I just received an email from a guy at the same dealership as the one that sold for 3000 over msrp. He said he could get one for 23799. I am waiting to see what he says on trade in. Thanks for everyones info. That price sound decent.

Well I just got back from the dealership. I can get a blue xr for sticker price. He didnt knwo for sure what I would get on trade in but he told me if I put my truck up for sale he would get me one after it sold. I kinda know the salesman personally so he said he could get me one no matter what. So maybe it is best for me to sell my truck instead of trading. IF you know anyone intersted in a four dour prerunner that silver send them my way. Also are there any options on the wheels that come on the truck. I think I might could talk him into putting some others on.

Better make sure you have a plan b ride... Lets just say it's easier said than done to obtain a new XR... If they have one there that can't be sold then you're in luck, or else ordering or trading can be a huge hassle on your end wthout a plan b car...

Damn it to hell, why don't I get that treatment? I probably wouldn't mind waiting 3 months if I had a loaner... (Gotta be manual tho haha)

The auction I got my X-Runner at doesn't have salespeople :) they have auctioneers and they don't give a flip.
