what do yall think?
I like the way it would look on the X. You think it would leak or anything.

Also any good shops where I can get an estimate.

Ridges? I don't think I've seen any top down pics of the X's. Mind showing us who are still waiting for ours? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Damn it to hell, I know this place that does custom roofs... I was talking to the RX-8 guys back a few months ago when I went on a test drive spree... They say that ALL 8's get stamped port side so they all come with hard tops... The company that does it also does aftermarket roofs and you won't know the difference since they stamp every single 8 out there...

I forgot the damn place, but I can hop on the RX-8 forum and find out if you're TRUELY intrested... (don't want to troll there http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

The price iirc is ~1.5K to 3K... This is for the works... Stock roof in both appearance and operation... Obviously for the Taco they won't have any blueprint to go by, but I know it can be done (sorta tricky with the access cab suicide doors tho)...

Sadly, the place they were talking about is in Fresno Ca... They might have chain shops...

Damn this post didn't help crap... LOL, but yeah if you want, I can see if I can dig up some 411...

I just reactivated my account... Last time I visited there was like Feb of 2003 (when I registeered)...

Hopefully my post made sense, or else I'll even try calling the dealer and asking the same guy I talked to last time...

I probably wouldn't recommend any other roof company either... Leaking becomes a huge issue sooner or later with cheaply done roofs...

It seems now the forum folk are saying they're stamped in Hiroshima before they make it over port side... With that said, your best bet is to hunt down an aftermarket roof stamper... I wouldn't suggest it (totally kill resale value)...

Damn dealer and their misleading lies... If there is one dealer out there about the cars and not the business, that'll be the day...

from what it looks like those ridges would def mess up the look of the whole roof if you added a sunroof... here is mine

Dude you need to add one for the back!!! That'll be like so pimp... It'll be like the new tC with a full panoramic roof...

Which company is that? And how much did it cost you?

I'm going to live without the roof... I liked the roof, but only had time to mess with mine becaue the car can be driven with both eyes closed... The truck will be fun and it'll grab all of my attention even sitting in traffic...

I think the S-Runners came with the pop-up venting moonroof, they don't slide back.

One thing I don't like about the flip out design is the fact that the slightest of rain will set water into the cabin... It'll collect since the glass is angled...

My retracting roof on the teg rolls off the other way hehe, it hides under the roof of the car and will be useable during light showers (because I have the front visor thing that over laps)... It's nice on those days where you have to have a bit of air but can't open any darn windows...

None the less tho, that thing is nice looking...

The Webasto roofs dont dump water into the interior. For anyone wanting a aftermarket roof they are the way to go as most Dealers consider these factory units. All quality controls and construction.

Uhhhhhhh.... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

SR's didn't come with moon- / sunroofs as part of their basic configuration - at least recently. I'm 100% certain there was no OEM moonroof option in '04, and I'm 80% certain about '03.

Was there a moonroof OEM option in the '01's or '02's??... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I mean when it's opened...

why would you open your sunroof if there is water on it anyway? if you just washed the truck, shammy it down.. and i dont think you're gonna open the sunroof when its raining outside.. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif i'd rather have it slide outside than inside for the sake that you still have headroom...

several people with s-runners have the moonroof's.. it was an option.. maybe it was for 01 or 02.. but ive seen them before.. armyguns has one on his 02 s-runner... reaper13 has one on his 01...

I already explained why on my previous post http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's just something you can do if you were given the choice... Dosen't make either roof better, just makes one more versatile...

well on mine.. the rear part of the glass will actually come up first before the whole glass starts to go back.. so i too can have that little bit of air without having to open the whole thing... i can ride around here now even though its freezing and i barely get any wind coming inside the cabin.. its just enough to keep it cool though http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Exactly. I have an 03' with an aftermarker webasto. Love it. Kinda glad that Toyota didn't offer the tilt moonroof option in 03' which forced me to get the webasto. I believe those that said it was an option in 01' and 02' and not in 03' and 04' are right.
