Still runs and idles just fine but as of yestersday evening it now has a stutter in the engine (almost like a mild shake) when I kill the ignition. Only 4K on it and to the shop already? Who woulda thunk it? Very small and minor thing but it could become a bigger thing if I don't get it checked me thinks. Any ideas what it could be?

Completly Stock. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif It won't stay that way forever but with almost no upgrade parts available it will be stock for a while. I do have big plans for it though. I do drive it pretty hard at times but no harder than I ran my Ranger that it replaced and if it could take it then I expect the Taco to do so easily. It's a Yota afterall.

Not to bust your balls or whatever, but Consumer Reports did score the engine pretty low...
Still being in the line of owning one... I sure hope it isn't something major nor wide spread...

If we get a buck for each time someone's friend worked for someone important heard something... We can all drive the XR for free...
Toyota isn't Ford, if there is a problem big enough, it'll be recalled...

Well I don't put much weight behind anything that consumer reports says. I hate that rag. All goes back to my 94 Probe GT. They rated it the best car in it's class and it was a total piece of crap. I think it made Car & Drivers 10 best list that year as well....and before the negative Ford comments come flying in that car was mainly a Mazda. Until now every vehicle I have owned has been a blue oval and that was the only crappy one. I wanted a Lightning before I discovered the X in the Chicago auto show coverage. I think I did get the better truck of the two.
On the original note, the stutter has deminished somewhat and I didn't even notice it this morning but I'll keep checking for it. Maybe I had some bad gas or something. I'll keep you updated.

Sorry to hear that. Thats one of the cons in buying a new model in its first year, no one knows what potential problems may arise.

Well mine is at 2000 miles and i think i drive pretty hard but has no problems so far. hope none come up though.
