I forgot to mention this when I was at the dealer yesterday... Might not be news to most, but for those that didn't know (like me until yesterday) the truck has a backbone that leads to the eastern part of the globe...
The truck at the dealer listed the engine and tranny to be from Japan, and we all should know now that it's assembled in Fremont California...
I just wanted to throw that out there incase someone was curious... This info was gathered from the XR so this should mean every 4.0L V6 and 6 spd MT comes from Japan...
This is good and bad for a few reasons...
For those that know what a tC is (the newest Scion car) if you followed up on their forum, you'll know that they have the cars built in Japan totally... The car uses all Japanese parts... When someone has an issue, it takes a long time for them to clear it because any parts failure will result in them ordering over seas to get the them here... This usually result in the owner being car-less for a while...
I don't know if this is the case, but the 05 Taco is a first gen truck... I don't know if this is going to sway people into buying MORE trucks, or less trucks, but either or, I think it is rather nice it came over seas, as long as my truck don't need no fixings http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
