The guy wants to lift it 6" to fit 35" tires?? Man that isn't going to happen. It's gonna take a whole lot more lift to fit 35" tires.
Not to mention that guy is retarded.

Why wouldn't he just get the prerunner with the V6 and 6 speed? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

ok now, i could see the point of lifting an S-runner, because they want a manual pre-runner.
but now the fact of lifting an X-runner is retarded because and only because they offer a manual pre-runner. that's like paying 5k (give or take 3k) more and and getting nothing....i guess he's getting a stiffer frame for that 5k, i'd rather buy a prerunner V6 6 speed manual and stiffen the frame and go long travel for the same price.

I agree with Kgrgunman - if you wanted to end up with a sand runner, you shoulda started with a PreRunner or 4X4. A lot of the XR-specific elements would have to be deleted along the way to the lift. The only thing I see that he'd get to keep would be the X-brace, and he coulda had one welded onto a PreRunner. Unless he's gonna keep the ( http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puke.gif ...) body kit on there, there'll be almost nothing 'XR' about his XR.
Either he's a ******************* or he got hold of an XR so cheap that he can afford to waste it. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Yeah... I was reading that thread this morning... That guy's taking a lot more heat for wanting to raise his X than ALAN (?) took here at CT when he wanted to raise his S... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

This just comes to show; in today's car market, you don't need to put out a car worthy of lasting 10 years, don't even gotta complete the quarter mile in 18 seconds...
All you have to do is put on a lip kit, a non fucntional hood, and put a lot of money into advertising...
You'll end up with a following of people that'll buy what you make and turn it into something they wanted in the first place...
In this particular case, a raised 05 Tacoma with the flashy exterior...
Toyota could of made a killing with a kitted STD cab 4 cyl model... Maybe even toss in AWD while they're at it... Price it at around 15K and.... Wait can this be the next Scion truck? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I feel bad for the guy for gettin sh!t, but I agree on not raising it. I already gave Alan sh!t a long time ago, but when I look back on it, it was really immature. I don't think S's or X's should be lifted, but my opinion shouldn't dictate whether a person does it or not.
They should just help the guy out. He's gonna do it either way, so try to help him out so he doesn't completely fawk up his suspension.

well lifting a X and lifting an S are a little diffrent, because:
in 2001-2004 there was no manual prerunners, so if you wanted a manual V6 prerunner you're only real option was to buy an S and lift it; in my mind this makes it ok to lift an S.
however in 2005 they do make a manual V6 prerunner, so there is no point in buying an X runner in lift it, if you want a lifted X, you should have just gotten a manual V6 prerunner. so it's stupid to lift an X.

Same can be said about lifting the X because you can't get the lip kit in any other Tacoma... You can get it aftermarket or from Toyota directly, but you can also change the auto to manual if you so desired in the S http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I'm just gonna say whatever this time around... I hope they do lift the X... It'll be something to talk about aside from the squeaks...

alright one of the first one to lift a 2005 "mini" even though its an X, its still a mini. Dono if anyone even makes a lift kit for a 2004 mini or xrunner yet. Good luck and keep us posted.
The rims that came with the xrunner would look SWEET with some 31's or 33s if the backspacing is right.
It doesn't matter what others say...its YOUR truck and YOU customize it the way you want it. That's why this forum is called CUSTOMtacos. GO FOR IT MAN and GOOD LUCK!

you can put the X body kit on a prerunner extra cab if you wanted, then again why would you put a body kit on a lifted truck?
and to put a manual in a truck that had an auto from factory is a ton of money, mostly because of the computer, so would you rather spend 3k putting a manual in ur prerunner, or spend a lot less lifting ur S? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nana.gif

I would think that this guy should have purchased a 4x4 Access Cab with the Sport Package....it gives you some similar looks to the X....but to lift it defeats the purpose of what the truck is...It ruins the handling and the body kit is made to look closer to the ground....I know I would never lift the X...I actually want to take it down another inch...but I guess if he feels like wasting a good truck (sports car/truck) that is his decision....

The truck's intended goal was to sell... It did that just fine... Who are we to say what anything is intended for http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I agree to disagree with the owner, but I seriously want to see a lifted X... It definately would be something to look at... We all know it's only a matter of time before someone spots one anyways...

This was the reason I bought an S-Runner, I wanted a V6 Manual, but they only came in 4x4s and I wanted a 2wd. I thought the only difference between the S-Runner and Pre Runner was that one was lowered. If I knew then what I know now I would have just gotten a Pre Runner, but by the time I found out I didn't want to sell my truck to buy a Pre-Runner, since I had already done some work to the engine. But in the end I think my Long Travel S-Runner will keep up with the best Pre-Runners out there http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll post some pics up soon, I just finished painting the bedcage.
