Should I paint the engine cover the same color as the truck?
xtrapsi 11-01-2004, 12:49 PM You should rip that plastic sh1t outta there! I hate all the plastic covers they are putting in cars these days!! http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Lets see what makes it tick!! http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
onestocktaco 11-01-2004, 02:38 PM That is too compact! The cover makes it look nice and neat, but I'll bet 20 minutes are added to simple maintenance stuff now...
onestocktaco 11-01-2004, 02:39 PM Lets see some pics of the frame please!
Hot Taco 11-01-2004, 06:04 PM Yo cam,
Everybody is beside themselves with curiousity about the x brace on the frame. We want to see under the truck specificaly the x brace.
YodasTaco 11-01-2004, 06:42 PM is the airfilter a cone now?

Here is the picture I took of the one I was checking out, before it got off the truck.
framentation 11-01-2004, 09:24 PM what kind of gas mileage is the blown x runner suppose to get? i know its not a real important question but just wanted to know..
cam2Xrunner 11-02-2004, 12:42 AM I'm getting right now 17.2 mpg avg. 80% freeway driving at 80mph in 6th gear at 2600 rpm. It'll probably go down to 14 if I drive the same way(supercharged).
xtrapsi 11-02-2004, 04:06 AM uuuh, no...you will get better gas mileage as long as you aren't driving it hard. I went from ~17-18mpg to `23-25mpg with the TRD/URD setup.
RevHard6 11-02-2004, 07:26 AM is the airfilter a cone now?
No, it's a panel filter that goes in the box right on top of the engine (right next to the engine shield thing on top).

Hey thats good to know. I figured it would be lower since you're pushing in more air and fuel.
richbell 11-02-2004, 02:13 PM What does the X-brace do way back there behind the spare?
This whole time I was thinking it would go from under the passenger compartment to maybe just in front of the diff. Or under the engine compartment like BMW and others do to stiffen convertibles. I thought something like that would stiffen the structure better.
Maybe I have to see it in person. Looks like it bolts to the framerails at least....
Akhwa475 11-02-2004, 07:31 PM i like the oil filter location...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/trdcamry2003/HPIM0441.jpg

NJTacoma 11-03-2004, 09:12 AM That looks alot better with all that plastic crap off.
By the way does anyone know if the X-Runner is going to be offered in the northeast or is it going to be like the s-runner and we are screwed over here?

I've already seen an X-Runner here in Virginia http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
dave89144 11-03-2004, 10:49 PM The oil filter maybe easy to get to.... but where does the oil run down and all over when you go to change it ?? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doah.gif
cam2Xrunner 11-03-2004, 11:10 PM Into the convenient oil catch with a plug on the bottom for draining.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/trdcamry2003/HPIM0442.jpg
Kgrgunman 11-03-2004, 11:53 PM also i thought yall should know that the X-runner's braced fram is not just that X brace by the spare tire, there are also 2 (one on the drives side and one on the passangers side) triangular braces under the floor boords of the driver and passanger.
dave89144 11-04-2004, 06:29 AM very nice, toyota! http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/clapping.gif

I agree all that plastic crap is worthless. I took out quite a few plastic peices off my Camry!
Rambo 11-06-2004, 02:44 PM I agre those air tubes look very restrictive there. would like to see them opened up a lot more. and looks a hell of a lot better without the ugly plastic crap on there! by fat the best looking truck i've seen in a while inside and out.
Rambo 11-07-2004, 06:29 PM As soon as I buy mine i'm ripping that damn plastic crap off of it then getting a K&N setup in there as soon as that's released.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v733/colby6789/Picture007.jpg
Now with the headers i was pretty disappointed. I really didnt notice that big of a difference. Now im wondering if i should get the split second tuner to maybe reset the computer or something.
Racer_X 06-20-2005, 09:37 AM Well hopefully it's fast now!!
derekv6 06-20-2005, 10:11 AM nice! where did you get the k&n kit?
colby 06-20-2005, 10:39 AM cheapest i have found http://www.martelbrothers.com/catalog/index.html
So if you get the intake, you have to take the engine cover off?
00yota4x4 06-20-2005, 11:02 AM No I think he just took it off...If you get the intake all you have to do is remove the intake box then the TB is fully exposed
colby 06-20-2005, 11:02 AM no thats the thing you can have the intake but still use your cover, if you look carefully you can see where it screws back on, on the intake piping you can see the small bolt where it screws back on. I just took it off to show ppl my headers and all
X-running 06-20-2005, 04:00 PM it looks good http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bow.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bow.gif for being one of the first to get them both put on. Gonna get some dyno numbers? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
nick morris 06-20-2005, 05:34 PM man looks nice. Let me know how your hood holds out. I am afraid that it might get messed up.
Blangkang 06-20-2005, 06:48 PM man looks nice. Let me know how your hood holds out. I am afraid that it might get messed up.
The hood will be fine. I have had mine opened up for about 2k and no probs

PERTANO 06-21-2005, 10:53 AM I just called Summit today. They beat that price by 1.00. "JEGS also has it listed for 259.95" I know it's only a buck, but they were also able to drop ship it directly from K&N. I should be getting mine tommorrow afternoon. I hope the gas mileage improves. Maybe even a little?
colby 06-21-2005, 11:23 AM that beats mine by 20. I got my K&N for 280 but i think shipping was free
slamdtaco 06-21-2005, 09:27 PM I can get the K&N intake for 270 at a local performance shop, but I bought a generic one with a chrome/polished pipe from ebay for $80. I'll be sure to post pics once installed. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif I havn't received it yet.
00yota4x4 06-22-2005, 04:12 AM I bought the Same thing as you slam...Hope it comes in this week
