removing factory radio

how do you remove the factory radio in a 02 reg cab Taco?

If it's anything like the 2000, take off the climate control knobs off, pull the plastic piece off that has the diagrams on it, then behind that will be some screws, also theres screws on either side of the panel. think there's one near the ash tray also.

yeah, here's the diagram of the dash panel, at least through 2000, I don't know for sure after that.

Hey, sorry man, I left that image at the office, I thought I had a copy of it here at the house....I sent it to Jeff though, he's gonna post it in the tech section sometime, maybe he can send you a copy of it. I also sent him a copy if the wiring diagram telling which color wires go to what, in case you aren't going to use a wiring harness during the install.

Basically there is a screw behind the ash tray, 2 behind the A/C controls (pull the knobs, then the faceplate just snaps out) andd 2 little plastic pins at the bottom on either side, just push in on the tip of them with a small screwdriver or something, and they will release...just be careful not to tug on or disconnect the airbag switch wire up top left, and don't get any high current wires running next to your airbag components located on the floor under the dash in the center, would suck real bad to have on deploy in your face unexpectedly, hope that helps some.

Thanks alot I've actually already had the radio installed but I'm getting ready to add an amp and 2 6" bass tubes. Again thanks for the help.

Just a quick tip, always disconnect your battery before doing things like this, especially if you are around and airbag wiring. The airbag wires are almost always bright yellow, so don't try to probe these if looking for a power source.
