from good ole CT, that is. Who already has plans to get one? and what are your plans for it?

I want one soooooo badly, but it's just not in the budget right now.

If I did get one, my plans would be.... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

It's bad-ass as is... get the factory installed and warrantied supercharger and keep it well maintained until the warranty period is over. THEN start tinkering.

already had the down payment...waiting on some knews about it.
i need to get my lazy ass up and call the dealer and ask them when i can order one, because i doubt i'll find what i want with out putting in an order.

i just called my local dealer....they're retards down there, i got some guy and asked him when they expect the 2005 tacoma's in and he did not know so he handed it off to what he called the dealers "tacoma expert" so i asked him when the 2005 tacoma's came in, he said he did not know then he put me on hold and told me they should be in about 1.5 to 2 months from now and to show you what an expert he is he said "i think they might be changing the body style for 2005" http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doah.gif but what more could you expect from a dealer?

Well my toyota dealer had an auto fair/show a couple of weeks ago. I asked them a few questions about the X-runner. I figured that they wouldn't have a clue about the X-runner. The salesman actually surprised me and told me that he too has been waiting on some brochures, but he hasn't recieved any yet. I was just glad he knew what the X-runner was.

Luckily my S is all paid for so I'm deciding on getting one in the next couple of years depending on how much I save and what not, and turn either the S or the X into a project truck. Still don't know though. My roomate is seriously looking into it and has been to the dealer here in SD so he can trade in his 2.4 taco for one. i asked couple people at the stealership a couple gave me black faces and a couple others gave me some info but in a real jackass tone it wont be avalable untill fall '05 and toyota has a rep of not telling dealers info on new items untill its ready to be shipped

you'll be the first, but you have to do one thing for me...find a twisty road by your house that we can have fun on, hehe and a few straights so i can test out that 6 speed

I love my prerunner, but that x-runner makes me think twice.

Of course Id like one in a double cab and lifted with a V8. I mostly want that interior......and exterior.......and hood scoop......and hot chicks in the back.

No, I don't know what the XR weighs, but with a 5" wheelbase stretch and a 4" greater track, the truck's gotta weigh substantially more than our 32,000-plus lbs.


OTOH, the lateral-G numbers are very impressive! I can't wait to get specs on that truck, just for curiosity's sake. If those are really 18" wheels on it, I wonder how much they along with the tires weigh. Sprung ounces matter @ .9-G's.

I saw a grey 05 taco on I275 headed north today on the way home. it had a hood scope?! I thought only the xrunner had the hoodscope??? the x only comes in red, black, and blue... correct?

nah its a legit comment!! his camera is definately 1000x better than mine, and over the net and with pictures/digital pictures its impossible to compare color anyway.

Once we get a hold of the paint code#'s and/or get to see a S and X side by side then we could tell if theres any difference.

I don't think that sticker price matters if you're talking to a dealer that is only going to get one. Remember when the evo came out and they marked them up 10k?? Anyway, the price of the car is SUPPOSED to be 23k.

I think the Blue one is a dealer. I believe those are dealer plates. Don't know about the Red one, though.

I could not help but notice the TRD "big brakes" on the X runner. Does anybody know if these are to be available on the other 05 Tacomas? I really have not been impressed with the Taco brakes on my 02 double cab. Will TRD have these available for after market?

Hi, I'm Robert. I traded in my 99 XLE V6 Camry for it last night. My camry had tokico struts and eibach springs and the trd RSB. On 18's with 225/40/18's. This truck outhandles it tenfold. And it's way more comfortable than the camry overall. Sorry no pics yet but I'll get some up tommorrow. I heard of this site through toyotanation. SN over there is trdcamry2003. Anyone got any links to some upcoming aftermarket parts for this truck. I'll definitly be abusing the search button tonight. I look forward to posting here at customtacos, thanks for reading.

I work at Moreno Valley Toyota as a Sales rep. I sold it to myself. LOL
The sticker price incl. dest, hand, and floormats was 23,805. I don't have the big brake kit yet. I have one allocated that should be at my dealership in less than a week. We do not mark them up. First come first serve. If you want to buy it before it arrives I can arrange that. The speedometer says 120, I've hit 110 by accident. It get's there incredibly fast. Still trying to break it in. Right now I'm at 300 miles on the ODO. The gas light came on right at 300 miles. When I topped it off it said I put in 17.9 gallons. I'm not too sure what the actual amount it holds.

I've driven S-runners we had before for sale and I can say for sure that it is alot faster. Totally different truck. Way better handling too. You'd probably have to have a supercharged s-runner to keep up with the XR.

I like the red. I have the radiant red Dcab from 02 which I had to special request because nobody in south even new the color was available, they had never seen one. Did you get the big brake kit? How much if so?

I don not have the big brake kit yet. I am pissed at the size of the stock brakes, they are ridiculous. The prerunners get huge brakes with 4 piston claipers. Yet their sport truck gets the 4cyl regular brakes. They are pathetic. That's my only gripe about this truck. But I guess that can be fixed. I'm sure the big brake kit will cost as much as they did for the tundra which is 2,000 over at www.toyotaparts4u.com (http://www.toyotaparts4u.com)

I'm sure that price makes sense as related to the Tundra. I can't beleive they did not at least give the prerunner brakes. Its just amazing Toyota does all the hype on the X and its big brake kit but its not listed in any of their options, specs, or accessory section. Is the TRD big brakes suppose to be a dealer added option only? I guess TRD is always treated as after market.

The trd brakes will only be sold through dealers. www.toyotaparts4u.com (http://www.toyotaparts4u.com) is almost the same price as the employee discount. If I didn't work at the dealer I'd get it there. I want to call some companies like stoptech, wilwood, baer, and brembo and see if they might be interested in using my truck to design a big brake kit.

I just called Stoptech at their HQ in torrance. And asked about a big brake kit. The guy on the phone said that they designed the big brake kit for TRD and TRD is just rebadging them. I asked if they would be cheaper to buy directly from stoptech and he said it would probably cost more to do it through them(stoptech).

lol, i looked at a blue truck and it was really really blue, too bright for my taste.

it's a really quick truck tho. i took off from a stop light making a left hand turn and gave it about 75% gas, and the tail of the truck slid around perfect and smooth, ever sense then i'd had the biggest smile on my face.

i love it, and it's got more luxary inside then some lexus cars.

also, with out even trying, driving normal, i curped going into 2nd gear....hehe

the truck cost $23,830 that was the MSRP on the door and they would not budge from that price.

and the curb stop thing is because my mom kept parking her van so close to the garage door that you could not walk around the car (no, she never hit the door) and one day my dad saw one of those that was not bolted down, so he took it and set it there, so now my mom does not park so close, and you can walk around her car, lol

Since you asked, I do have hokups with JP Performance. They make some killer exhaust. Awesome work. Check out www.jpperformancellc.com (http://www.jpperformancellc.com)

They want to do a full system on my truck geared around the trd supercharger. They have experience on the Toyota camry/solara exhausts with superchargers. But they mainly do BMW and Mercedes work. They could do a custom setup for you however you wanted it.
