RedRunner03 03-01-2004, 05:42 AM Whats up guys,
I just got photoshop cs and it is my first time ever having photoshop. I just learned how to realisticly paint objects with hue/contrast, but what I can figure out, is how to paint blacks and whites. Hue and contrast has only worked with colors. Can anyone give me some tips? Thanks. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
3Point4Tacoma 03-01-2004, 06:00 AM This might help. I'm not sure. Try using new layers and adjusting the opacity of the layer. For instance, when I am tinting windows on a truck, I use the marquee tool and somehow get an outline of the window (image quality depends on what marquee tool I use), then I create a new layer, fill it with black, then adjust the opacity of that layer to achieve the tint that I am looking for. I use the same principle when painting graphics on the side of a vehicle.
Syzes 03-01-2004, 06:33 AM Black colors are always tough to change, use and option called "colorize" to change white.
Hope that helps..

But will that colorize option still keep it real? Will it have light reflections and different shades and stuff? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mudtaco.gif

Ok, I have been trying this approach for a few days now and I just cant seem to get a white tacoma to the laser red or whatever that mine is. Check out the attachment, this is what I am working with.
RedRunner03 03-04-2004, 07:13 PM Now here is kind of what I am trying to get but I have no idea how I did it and I havent been able to do it since.
RedRunner03 03-04-2004, 07:14 PM Now here is what I am trying to get. I did this once but have no idea how I did it. I have not been able to do it since. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doah.gif
Also, you will notice after it was painted that it kind of looks like it was made out of clay. How do I get that glossiness back to it?
**DONOTDELETE** 03-04-2004, 07:24 PM here's a source photoshop file for what you wanna do:

RedRunner03 03-04-2004, 07:29 PM Potroast, once again, your the man with all of the answers, but I have no idea what to do with this psd file. I have it open in photoshop, but I am still a newbie and have no idea what you did.
**DONOTDELETE** 03-04-2004, 07:32 PM okay, I'll assume you have basic ps knowledge -- so you know how to hide/show a layer right? Anyway, what I did is create a new layer, and select all of the car that I want colored. I then paint it a color. Now right click the layer (in the layer manager) and go to the blending options. You wanna mess with the fill and opacity so that it shows the features through (like the taco lines, and shadows) This lets you create semi-realistic coloring. For example, pip (afp520) has a blue s-runner in his sig, when in reality, his srunner is black.
RedRunner03 03-04-2004, 09:15 PM I actually just found a better way. It is a little more time consuming but not much. I attached the original file that I was using so you could see what I was working with. I started by using quick mask mode to select the hole car. This is the most time consuming part. Then, after I have to hole car selected to the T, I copy and paste it into a new layer. Then just adjust the hue/saturation on that special layer and get the best color of the car. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/clapping.gif

**DONOTDELETE** 03-04-2004, 09:24 PM If you want a really fast way to select the whole truck, use the magic selection tools. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

RedRunner03 03-10-2004, 02:45 PM Here is BigBlackTrd's Truck Photoshopped white. I know it looks a little plastic-like, but I did it from a remote desktop at work and the coloration through one of those programs sucks. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
