IDistinctive27 02-10-2004, 12:34 AM i tried to do a search but came up with no answers...i just got some monroe airshocks and plan on putting them on aswell as a small compressor...i wanna know what the ride quality is compared to my tokicos...and also i have a 3 inch drop in the rear right now...can i go lower with the airshocks?...thanks in advance

pr1mo360 02-10-2004, 12:53 AM u wont get noticeably lower. it will just stiffin up your rear suspension and give u a inch or two lift with like 120psi u can adjust the pressure so you can have the ride u want
Dropitmore 02-10-2004, 07:51 AM The monroes MA-792 I believe give you 4 inches of lift from where you sit and in some cases five inches if the pressure of the compressor you are using is good (from a gas station that is)..... but I love my airshocks....the ride is bumpy when aired out just cause im bottoming out on them at a 6 inch drop but at a three inch you should be fine....when you air up all the way that ride is stiff as hell and thats what I love....some people are into them, some people arent....got to try them to find out....then the compressor and tank and stuff will add fun to them...no more going to the gas station to fill up http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
IDistinctive27 02-10-2004, 01:15 PM ok my question is...from where i sit...which is a 3 inch drop in the back....i wouldnt be able to air out the shocks a lil to get a lower drop without messing up the shocks usage?...im new to the airshock stuff as you can see http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
OGSpacePimp 02-10-2004, 02:03 PM the shocks themselves will not give you any drop, they can only lift, you can do what you need to lower it more and use the airshocks to lift for driving....with ~60psi or so my airshocks ride REAL smooth in the back, nice smooth, tight, but not stiff, feel to the rear
tacomadanny331 02-10-2004, 04:13 PM bout how big of a compressor would you need and im geussing like a 2gallon tank would b more than enuff right? cuz i also would like 2 stiffen up the back with airshocks
where would b good place to buy them and at what length?
Dropitmore 02-10-2004, 10:02 PM I am using a 5 gallon tank and a small Thomas Compressor forgot which one and two valves 5/8's....I only lift twice and my compressor goes off....so I may get a 9 gallon tank just to have a little more fun with it....you can get the airshocks at kragen....MA-792
IDistinctive27 02-11-2004, 12:34 AM hey dropitmore...where is your compressor and tank mounted?...do you have pix of your whole setup?....btw...do you ever park on the side of csulb like on bellflower?...cause i drive down there everyday and sometimes i see a tacoma with blacked out taillights and a billet grille

I should update my profile....naw I dont go to CSULB anymore http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doah.gif haha but my setup is mounted underneath my bed where the spare used to be...I have an extended cab too
lowandloud 02-11-2004, 06:31 PM so I may get a 9 gallon tank just to have a little more fun with it
you dont have to get a bigger tank, you just need higher pressure in your tank

im new to it bro...thanks for the advice....how do I go about increasing the pressure in the tank? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

well, i assume you have a pressure switch inline between the Thomas and the tank. if you do and it is adjustable, just crank it up. if it is not adjustable, then get a new one that has a higher pressure rating.
if you do not have a pressure switch and you control your Thomas with a toggle switch, then just let it run longer before you cut it off. if you go this route though, you should use a gauge so that you dont blow the tank.
Dropitmore 02-12-2004, 06:25 AM i see....cause I have a toggle that turns the thomas off and on...but the thing is that the compressor automatically shuts off after filling up so I cant let it run longer....that pressure switch is something Im going to have to look into....how much do those run usually?
TOYDLYF 02-12-2004, 07:19 AM those psi switches are cheap...
OGSpacePimp 02-12-2004, 05:02 PM pressure switches run like $18-$30 depending what you get (adj or fixed) the compressor is more than likely cutting out from a heat protection cicuit on the compressor to keep it from being overworked, get a gauge attached to the tank so you know what your pressure is, if the compressor cuts out, wait a few minutes then cut it back on once it's cooled, it'll crank more
