There's no way the X-Runner package will be priced as low as the current S-Runner. Just consider the features included on the X-Runner which are 'in excess of' what's on a current factory S-Runner:

- Larger engine with (more complicated) VVT (more machining = more cost)
- 6-speed transmission (1 more speed = more gearing inside)
- 2 additional 'suicide doors' (hardware; additional labor to assemble)
- Larger overall frame and body (more metal = more cost)
- Lower skirting / effects frills (option on current SR)
- LSD (aftermarket on current SR)
- Fog lights integrated into front valance
- Folding rear seat / deck panels (more hardware = more cost)
- 18" rims

Of course, these are only the things that appear obviously 'above and beyond' the current SR based on what relatively little hard info we have at this point.

My initial guess is that they're not gonna be able to price it any lower than 10 - 15% higher than current sticker (meaning $22.5K - 23.5K). If they decide to hype the XR I wouldn't be surprised to see it sticker-priced more like $24K.

FWIW, I'm guessing that the upward price creep on the other (non-premium) '05 Taco models will not be as great as for this model.

im guessing that there is now way they would sell the ground effects kit as stock....but as an option they would...

I'm gonna guess a base price of $23,000 with most at dealerships being priced around $25,000. Definitely NOT cool.......they should have put the Tundra v8 in there, and put a bigger v8 in the Tundra.

well think about this, from what i've read, it has the same g-force taking off as the 350z, keep in mind that s-runners with the s/c have that capability already, the hp on the x-runner will be 240-250 range, the s-runner now with the s/c is about the same as a stock x-runner. also from what i have compiled is this: the x-runner stock has almost the same horsepower as a gt mustang. now from me, that's saying alot.
and just imagine if you were to turbo the x-runner. you might see power figures in the 350-400 range!!!!! also to put things in perspective about the whole turbo thing, dx-r is hittin mid to high 14's on the track. keep in mind that he has a 4cyl as most of you know. he keeps up/if not ties with the s-runner that has a v6 s/c!!!. this x-runner will beat the lightnings. if this thing has the power potential that i think it has, it has my vote, cause i'm still young, dumb, and full of you know what!! http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doah.gif http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif and that lasies and gentlemen is my 02 cents

^^^Good thought on the hp range... BUT... its also larger and heavier, so that added hp helps to compensate for that added weight. But I think the engine itself will be able to handle more hp than the current 3.4. I think its gonna be a huge competitor against lightings and srt10's.... but only after some aftermarket shinnanigans. Oh.. and price... ummm... I say 24k sticker. We should place bets on it... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't think there's any way it's gonna be that cheap, due to all the reasons mentioned above...I'm thinking over $25k...even up as high as $30 with some options...look at the Lightning, this is comparable in power is it not (s/c'd), and look at what those go for. Having just bought my S, it's hard not to feel a little regret about the X coming out, but when I really think about it, I'm not sure I could have afforded it.

apparantly its about 1,000 lbs heavier than the stock S now... thats alot... i say the sticker with no body kit is around 23,500 then after the body kit 25,500-26,000

where are you guys finding out the specs such as weight for this truck? http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

No way is it 1000lbs heavier. A 4000lb mid size? It's not extremely bigger than the current model. 4-1/2 inches isn't that much, and the engine block is aluminum. It's probably going to be about 300-400 more lbs. Plus, you'll need a little more weight to keep the traction down. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

FWIW, I agree with CASlim - I don't (yet) see / read anything that makes me think we're looking at an additional 1,000 lbs. I second CASlim's figure of 300 - 400 additional lbs. as a decent / realistic off-the-cuff estimate.

I second this, with the supercharger, Usual Toyota OVERPRICING http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cussing.gif, and Dealer markup for demand/new. Easily 30K. Hell the local dealer wanted 26-27K for a fully loaded 4x4 Double Cab http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eyecrazy.gif Mind you without the supercharger

My earlier guessimation (10% to 15% _minimum_ price increase over current SR MSRP) was based on the total package we've seen so far. Let's not forget we'll be at the mercy of Toyota's policy of clumping things into overall 'packages' that (almost always) over- or under-include what any given person really wants.

I was pleased to see some of the rest of you cite the notion of the ground effects stuff being an option (I'm hoping like hell it IS...). The only thing I've learned over the last 20 years of Toyota ownership is that whatever _I_ think is the ideal package will definitely NOT be what they offer... ....But hope springs eternal...

Toyota said this will be an all-inclusive package deal. The X-Runner is not based on the stock tacoma. It is a whole new, and seperate, chasis....that's what they said in the unveiling. Which sucks for the rest of us broke a$$ peeps....means we can't go buy the body kit for ours.

Also, lets look at the price issue with some common sense instead of percentages and pie charts....

They managed to build a truck that will outperform many a street sport cars (ie- the nissan 350Z) They also cramed a ton of high tech stuff in that truck. If you think you are going to find a toyota dealer with a sticker less than 26k i think you are in for a shock. Toyota knows they've now got something people will pay for....and pay they will. For a truck capable of hanging with seasoned roadsters that run in the low to mid 30k's Toyota will price accordingly. Not to mention, the truck was built to compete with the competitors, such as the Dakota R/T and the F-150 Lightning....all of which are freakin expensive.

All said and done......the whole package with a s/c (cause what's the point if it ain't) is going to run into the 30k range. They may release it in the high 20k's but after the Dealerships dip their hands in the pot it will be substantially higher.

(alright...i'll get off my horse now)

na....they'll need to produce more horses for a price like that. The new 4Runner is $26k (base). I think, fully loaded will be around $24k (w/out S/C).

i think your right about fully loaded should be around 24-25k with no sc.

but i'm going to be an odd ball, and think they the base X-runner will be around 21k because in the video they said they where trying to not increase the price or keep the price down, or some Bs like that. but who know's that could be just their [censored].
i can't wait to find out more info on them, like price and 1/4 time
