Is there a toyota part # that has like a whole kit? If so, is it something I could do myself? Anyone ever added air conditioning to a Tacoma before? How big of a job am I looking at? Lastly, what can i expect the dealer to rape/charge me for the kit and installation?
What ever you do, don't go to the Toyota dealership in Modesto! They wanted to charge me $70 to install a factory clock that they were selling for $70. I ended up buying the clock from Florida for $50 and installed it myself in 30 minutes.

hehe yeah Modesto Toyota is a huge ripoff. They charged my ex-girlfriend $35.00 to top off her brake fluid. It was under warranty and her brake light was on, so she brought it in for service. What a joke.

You may not be able to get a kit for your truck, I tried to get one for my 99 but there was none available. Maybe it's different in the states though, I live in Canada.

checked ac prices today. these are for the kit ONLY.
v6 my cost 574.20 retail 718.00
4cy my cost 574.20 retail 718.00
and a update kit is needed for the 4cyl
my cost 138.60 retail 173.04
i would have to double check applications if you are serious.
retail is what you would expect to pay over the counter at a dealer.
my cost is what it costs me as a tech.
if you were serious i could give to you for my cost plus a little for me and shipping.

I moved from san diego to Phoenix so I had to add a/c. Got it installed in 3 hrs for $900 by Arizona Auto Air. The installation looked fairly complicated so I let them handle it and now I freeze my a*s off.
