Backstory:

I have a 2002 DoubleCab Prerunner.

I want to change the look of my truck. It will be mostly for looks, and some trail riding. I am wanting to go with a prerunner look, but not too many deserts to ride in in georgia...

I am planning on putting the complete OME lift on, and I want black aluminum wheels. I was going to go with the ATX artillery or the MotoMetal 951s. Thats the type look I'm going for.

OK, now that that is out of the way:

What backspacing will I need to run 255/85R16 tires? And with that being such a skinny tire, will a 16x9 wheel(the artillery) work ok?

Anything else I haven't thought about?

it being tall and narrow, you may want to stick to a 16x8 wheel... it will help prevent curb rash when parking...

as for backspace, with that tall a tire, even with the lift, 4" is a good backspace to keep the tires off the frame rails at full turn or articulation...

Thanks Mike.

I have not been able to find a black aluminum 16" wheel that looks good with 4" backspacing.

I am basically just wanting to run the biggest tire I can with that lift, I already have 31x10.50s now and I don't know if I want to spend that much on a lift if I'm not going to be able to put a bigger tire on.

Im a broke ass and will have to sell my motorcycle to do the things I want to do to my taco. I'm fine with that b/c I don't get to ride much and I've always wanted a nice, at least slightly upgraded truck.

My planned build:

OME lift
Black wheels
Whatever size tires I can fit
Bajabumpers.com front bumper with Lightforce 170s
Allpro rear bumper
and maybe painting the truck black from the white it is now.

Looking at having about $5000 total to spend.

I am going to save some money buy installing the lift myself, painting the bumpers and installing them, etc. The only things I will have to pay for labor wise will be having the tires mounted and front end aligned, and having the truck painted.

Sorry for writing a book, I just want to do it right the first time while I have the money.
