Tried fighting a tree-Short story

Hey everyone, been lurking around but this is my first post. So my Dad gave me my first truck when I first got my permit, I just had to take over payments (payed off the last $3.3k). I think he just wanted an excuse to get a new TRD 4x4. Anywase, got the truck payed off, got my liscence and everything was going good. First rain of the season and me and some buddies go playing around. I spent the whole night sliding the ass-end of my truck around on some bald tires. Stayed safe all night. Next morning comes around and Im driving down my friends private driveway wich happens to be some super slick clay mud. 5mph just putting along and here comes Fido leaping through the forest and decides to play a little chicken with me. I barely hit my brakes, wasn't trying to stop, just slow down... I started to slide, and went like 3mph into a tree and broke out my front passenger corner light. Wooh, not much damage! If I go forward its just a big cliff with a bunch of trees, so I tryed to reverse out. Even with my dirtbike and gear bag in the back, the tires insisted on spinning. So I trek down the rest of his road and see him laughing at me through his window. He grabs their John Deer and starts blowing diesel smoke down the road to attempt to save my truck. Well we attatch the tow strap and right as we start pulling, it decides to slide sideways down the hill and try and take out a oak tree. The oak tree won.. Well we pulled it up and succesfully dented and scratched the right side of my truck.

Now to my questions. Has anyone had similar damage done to their vehicle? How much should I expect to pay to have the body work done and have it repainted? Is there a possibility of me popping some of the dents out myself? Plunger or something...haha. Also I was thinking since the lights busted out, this is an excuse to get some clear corners-any suggestions? Orrrrr.... I saw a newer 4x4 tacoma with what looked like blacked out lights. Would the black look OK on a gold truck? Im not familiar with pricing for automotive stuff, but I know in the motocross world OEM is usually more expensive than aftermarket. That's also why I was considering something other than the normal lights. Sorry for the blabber, and thanks in advance for the replys and help. :headbang:

Here's a website where you can get some aftermarket clear corners for that truck. What a good excuse to add a little bling to your ride:

not sure what that will run but it will be hefty you damaged the whole side of the truck looks like a lot of work interior has to be removed bed has to be removed front fender has to be removed im thinking 2200,00 to 3000.00 close to it. depending on shop mite as well see about just having the truck painted the color you want probably wont add to much to the repair price.

Ouch, I had a feeling it was gonna be pricey. My dad said not to file an insurance claim because I'm new on the plan and it would make my rates go up pretty significantly... Ill go to a couple body shops and get some quotes... Guess I'll start saving and decide if I wanna fix it or not when I have the money.

x2. One of the few times that I agree with you.

Why bother wasting ur money on fixing body damage when ur just gonna get more dents wheeling. Just my 2 cents.

Haha, I like the way you guys think. I'm probably gonna end up selling this truck in a few years anywase, Ill just save the money. But I think I'm still gonna try and pop out a few of the bigger ones by myself.
Now a clear corner question:

These say they have chrome trim, but it looks different... Maybe it's just me or the picture. What do you guys think? Little bit less expensive than Option #2, but I want to make sure the chrome matches up.

Little bit more than option #1 but I can tell its actually chrome trim. Think I'm gonna go with these.

You can get to that dent under the side window by removing the rear spear and covers. If I were you I'd use whatever tools I had laying around to get the majority of that dent out and possibly buy a cheap set of body hammers and dollys to finish up. Take your time and you can probably make it look okay. For the bed, you can get to most of that by removing the fender liner and reaching up inside the bed.

Spend a good Saturday and you can make it look halfway decent. Depending on how well you do, you could get really ambitious and break out some grinders, bonder, and primer and then all you'd have to pay the body shop to do is paint ;)

I say all of this from experience - I rolled my truck on its side not long after I was 16 so I know where you're comin from.
