We left the house at 5:30am and stopped at 7-11 for coffee and ice. Then we hit the local bagel store for breakfast which took more time than it took for me to pack last night. There was only one guy behind the counter and he was slower than 56k and the store was busy. I guess with the Jewish holiday tomorrow, everyone was stocking up.

We finally got on the road at about 6am and we just made our first stop for gas in PA.

Here's some pics we took.

The road as we saw it through our blurry eyes..

Heads up to everyone.. Hwy 68 especially between Ducktown, Copperhill & McCaysville GA is known for its speed traps.. So, do watch yourself.

We've landed. There was no more wi-fi along the road so we couldn't post. Arrived around 8pm last night. Didn't have such great weather driving down after all. Drove in rain through most of Virginia.

Ray, thanks for the heads-up on the speed traps, but thankfully we didn't have to take that road. I don't think we saw double digits since we pulled out of my driveway. :D

Fuel has been plentiful on the stations we've encountered.

Here's some more pics...see ya tomorrow.

Noooo tell them they better be ready when you get there ! Give them some of our NY attitude.

The earlier we get there, we'll have our pick of cabins...

We left Tacoberfest around noonish and hit the road, heading to PA before landing in Lawn Guyland (as Jeff would say).

We should get there around midnight but made a pit stop to post a quick pic or two (check out the group photo under "I'm Back" thread.

This is the type of traffic jam we encountered over the weekend...

As much as I would have loved to make a stop in Vegas, it just wasn't in the cards. ;)

We made it home safe and sound around 4:00pm. Here's the last few pics from the road.

Felt right at home doing 80...supercharger and all....until we hit dead-stop traffic on 81. I looked over and saw sheer panic flash across Keith's face. I swore I could hear him say to himself, "this is where the clutch has to get replaced". Just as an FYI...the clutch is fine.

Now this is rush-hour traffic. Obviously, we're back in NY. Keith actually had to use his mirrors and look over his shoulder to change lanes.

Home sweet Home... Nothing like it, your own showers, your own bed, and the bills stacked up in the mail box.. I sure miss Tennessee.. We had not been back 4 hours and had already heard 2 ambulances, 1 fire "horn" signal call, and 1 police cruiser in "hot pursuit", all from our living room.. Did not hear any of this on the ranch.. Oh well, welcome back Tina & Keith glad you made it safely..

This is what's left of the Bagel store I guess he didn't run for the Fire Extinguisher fast enough ....

Saturday October 18, 2008 firefighters from Merrick and several surrounding towns fought a fire that started just before 2:00 am for over 4 hours that destroyed three businesses in a strip mall despite the best efforts of the firefighters. The fire was located at 2101 Merrick Rd. at the Bagel Boss and spread to Robeks fruit smoothie and healthfood store and the Starfish chowder house and oyster bar. At the height of the fire there were 5 tower ladders operating along with multiple handlines to battle the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time there were no reported injuries.
