Hey everybody,
Here's a note to all of you who have been procrastinating registering to attend this year's big Tacoberfest event in eastern TN. In order to organize the final details with our vendors and catering services, we will be closing registration for the event at midnight on September 26th, 2008.
With gas prices now coming DOWN across the country, there's really no good excuse to not attend the biggest site meet of 2008! Ask anyone who has attended a previous Tacoberfest event in Pennsylvania and they'll tell you that this is one event not to be missed. :waytogo:
Finally, I want to stress that even though this event is a Tacoma owner's event, if your truck gets terrible gas mileage, you're not going to lose any friends by driving your wife/girlfriend's car to save on gas money. And, you may even get bonus respect points if her vehicle is a Toyota/Lexus/Scion. In other words, as much as we want to see your Tacoma, bring whatever vehicle you can afford to bring and we'll be glad to have you join us.
For more information or to sign up for the event, visit the official Tacoberfest website (http://www.tacoberfest.com).
See you there! :headbang:

Hey Dave.. We would be delighted to have you stop by and say hi. However, you still would need to register. Anyone that plans on attending must register and pay to attend.. We are not trying to create any ill feelings but. The ranch is rented, the food has to be purchased, as does the beverages. The ranch has facilities to sleep up to 200 people in side. We could not rent a 1/3 or 1/2 of it. Had to rent all of it, so I hope you understand why everyone must be registered and paid prior to coming. To my knowledge, there will be NO SALES done at the gate. You will have your name on the registered guest list or, you will probably not attend. I spoke to Jeff about maybe extending the registration to include peeps driving up. But, imagine the nightmare for food and drink accountabilty and planning it would cause.. So. per the registration rules found here: http://www.tacoberfest.com/info/
Cost:
The cost for attending Tacoberfest 2008 is $75/person. This covers your lodging and food/beverages for the weekend. There are no discounts given for partial-weekend stays due to the administrative nightmare that would cause. Children ages 7 and younger are free. Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for give aways that we'll do Saturday evening. You can register for the event on our registration page.

glassdoc 09-05-2008, 02:40 PM way to lay down the law:waytogo:
Trust me, WE wish everyone could attend without cost.. However, thats not the case..In an effort to procure a place large enough for a huge meet, capable of getting 200+ trucks in and parked (securely), able to sleep 200+ peeps, feeds 200+ peeps, it can't be done for free. In the past, I paid for everything and held it at my home. If you wanted to attend it cost you the gas to arrive and the beer you brought to drink. As for laying down the law. It was carefully thought out. The cost of the ranch, the cost per person in food and beverage.. Everything was well thought out. And the cost per person for the entire weekend is far less than what the ranch normally charges his white water rafting group/campers. (7 DAYS - 6 NIGHTS $1749 + TAX FOR A GROUP OF FOUR (less food)) http://www.eagleadventures.com/ranchwee.htm Just consider the food alone.. If you were out on the road and ate (1) meal on Friday, (2) meals on Saturday and (brunch) on Sunday what do you think it would cost? Brunch almost anywhere is $9.95 or more by itself.. Say the other 3 meals were fast food type. $15-$20 for all 3.. Go with the low number $24.95 to eat 4 meals,(I think we calculated $13 per person per meal) now add in a place to sleep for 2 nites and shower, fire pits, hiking trails, alot of ameneties and the priviledge of being there.. $75 does not sound to unreasonable does it?
And in fairness to everyone, cause trust me on this one. Those thinking of stopping by to say hi, WILL end up staying for quite awhile.. Its too much fun to stop n and dash.. Which means more food, more drink, more ice etc.. Bottom line..more cost. No profits will be made, (be lucky to break even, if we calculated everything correctly). So.. laying down the law.. No.. Just keeping it equal for all attendees.
glassdoc 09-13-2008, 09:40 PM 2 weeks left til registration closes.. Paypal friendly and will accept personal checks. GoTo: http://www.tacoberfest.com/register/
Chris D. 09-13-2008, 10:08 PM gas prices just jumped 20 cents within a day, thanks hurricane Ike!!!!
glassdoc 09-13-2008, 10:21 PM It will come back down as soon as the crews go back to work..
I did not see one report of any damage to the refineries. And, yes .20 cents is an increase. What exactly are we talking per tank.$4.00 more for 20 gallons? That's equal to 2 20 oz soda's or 2 20 oz coffee's.. The point is, yes gas prices went back up.. But, if you waited until you absolutely had to fill up, its only $4.00 more per tank.. Are you really going to notice $4.00?
FASN8Dave 09-29-2008, 09:26 AM Thanks guys. I know I did't miss it as far as dat, but I overlooked it.
Well now it's Monday and I've missed them both, LOL
Enola Gaia 10-01-2008, 09:32 PM Bump ...
Anyone know how many registrations there were?
glassdoc 10-02-2008, 02:20 AM The last I heard, we had under 50. But, given the fuel cost, the job situation, economy overall and the relocation of the event.. Its still a success. Plus, look at the sponsors that have stepped up to the plate..
makgreens 10-02-2008, 06:51 AM I think its a success too since the economy and everything has gone down the crapper
disassemble 10-02-2008, 06:55 AM how many people showd up to last years tacoberfest.. i'm just trying to guage how many people are going to be there. you said roughyl 50 for this year. so how many peeps showed up at Raymond's house last year?
radtcma 10-02-2008, 02:01 PM I'd say about the same amount
glassdoc 10-02-2008, 03:39 PM From last years thread: http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1163925&postcount=594
Overall we had a total of 81 people (just looked over my list), 34 Tacomas, 4 Street Rods, 1 Show "ready" Ford Explorer, and some guy off the street that wanted to hang out with a partying group of people. We had 27 sleep overs and 25 at brunch this AM. Yes, the police did show up once, 3 cars of them. But, if thats how you gauge great parties then this one was a hit.. Thanks again to everyone, hope you left full. And with any luck we will see you at Tacoberfest 2008
That total included: The DJ & his helper, the street rod crew (5 of them), Paul's Mom, and my wifes brother & his wife & John & Dan from Team Toyota. So, total CT crew was 68 including spouses, girl friends, and friends.
And this year Bill and at least 1 or 2 others will be reppin Toyota of Cleveland with at least 2 maybe 3 trucks so.. If we count everyone.. Who knows how many will be there. I am thrilled with all the new faces that will be there, this is what Tacoberfest is all about.. Meeting fellow CT'zens and seeing their trucks.. I just wish all the past attendee's could have made it, but.. In life there are no guarantees.. And, with our government in charge, next year gas may well be $20 a gallon.. So, I'm just happy that we have as many as we do making the effort and coming out..
