jason2001 03-18-2002, 10:16 PM those of you with superchargers, what did you pay for it and how much was it to install. Most of the prices I see are around $2400. And I figure it would cost around $600 to install. Do these prices seem about right?

slamdtaco 03-19-2002, 05:38 AM Look on TTORA. There was a special running for a while for $1800. I don't know if they are still that price.
jason2001 03-19-2002, 01:29 PM wow $1800, that would be a sweet deal. I'll check their message board to see if there still at that price. Thanks for the info.
H8RSTYLE 03-19-2002, 01:58 PM jason your screwd dude i can't find one for cheaper than 2400 unless you check at ttora.... for the 1800 deal that slamtaco's talking about..... http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/frown.gif
jason2001 03-19-2002, 03:03 PM they said they had a deal for $1999 but that place sold out of them. Sterling McCall toyota is selling them for $2150, so that looks like the best deal now. Nothin will stop me from getting supercharged H8R
ltw9r 03-20-2002, 03:27 PM stearling mc call is here in houston. have you tried toyotaguys.com?
later

jason2001 03-20-2002, 03:35 PM I looked at their site and it says $2395. That seems to be the going price now. Less than a year ago a lot of shops were selling them for $2100. My timing always seems to be off.
ltw9r 03-20-2002, 03:47 PM one year during christmas when the 2nd gen 3.4 s/c came out trd had a deal going,
it was the s/c, a boost guage, windsheield banner decal, and a model of the ivan stewart truck for $1999.
that was available to all toyota dealers.
damn
tommie
the cheapest place to buy trd parts(superchargers) in houston
is stearling mc call, because they are getting bigger discounts from gst and trd for buying in bulk.

H8RSTYLE 03-20-2002, 03:55 PM hey jason i think i'm just gonna end up getting a supercharger now that i think about it, i think it would be a little more cheaper and not so troublesome as a turbo kit.
jason2001 03-20-2002, 04:02 PM How much HP is the turbo supposed to give you and how much. They won't sell the Supercharger's for less than $2400 because they're so new for the 4 banger. But I agree, supercharger ispretty much maintnance free after it's dialed in.
H8RSTYLE 03-20-2002, 04:16 PM turbo is supposed to give ya more hp when you are at higher rpm's and a supercharger gives ya constant power but the turbo is 2,450 and that is not including an intercooler and a supercharger is the same and it is less maintainance and you don't need an intercooler.
jason2001 03-20-2002, 04:29 PM lets get Supercharged!!!
We can get them installed at the sime time and get a discount, maybe......probably not. End of April I'll be charged!
TacomaKevin17 03-20-2002, 06:27 PM Another AZ guy, TIGHT!
Nice truck man. http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif
slk23022 03-20-2002, 06:30 PM Don't forget about instant throttle response off the line and at lower speeds... turbo's are disgusting... in a sense... There's that lag we all know about.
No tto mention the rotating fan inside the turbo that is being exposed to all the fumes and gases from the enginer through the exhaust, which i would think eventually cause corrision in the turbo and build up of all this crap... exhaust fumes are disgusting man!
H8RSTYLE 03-21-2002, 02:44 PM thanks for the info slk23022, that is why i think i'll just get it supercharged....
H8RSTYLE 03-21-2002, 02:46 PM Hey Kev that's Jason bro.... he's one of my buddies out here, he might roll up with us to SD in May http://www.CustomTacos.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif
slim taco 03-21-2002, 04:10 PM You shouldn't be paying more then 6 hours of labor or ~$400.
The only reason for a dealer to do the install is so the sc stays on your powertran warranty. If you dont need/want that just install it yourself - its faily easy.
jason2001 03-21-2002, 04:20 PM The more I think about it the more I think I want to install it myself. I don't even know if my warranty is still good or not on the powertran because of my lift. I still get a 1 year warranty installing it myself and will save $400.
hypertaco 03-21-2002, 08:48 PM The toyota dealer around here said $200 to install...less than 4 hours labor
